So I have started project #2, my crystalized DIY monogrammed cake topper. This one has been expensive, as I love the look and glisten of real swarovski/ austrian crystals!

I lay the crystals flat on the surface to get an idea...and I love it. The thing is that I need to buy more crystals...which are expensive and FI says let's just do with what we have. Less is more...

My idea: crystallize the whole cake topper. Yes it is pricey....but it's so pretty! And we will use it on anniversaries to come, christening cakes for our children, etc.

His idea: do not completely crystallize the topper...just add a few touches of crystals here and there to add some diamond shine, like in the corners

Here is it, with the crystals just laid out on the mirrored topper...

What do you think?

Looks great so far! I blinged mine out completely but I didn't use Swarovski crystals so it wasn't that expensive to do.

Its really a tough call to make. I think it depends on exactly how many more crystals you'll need & the cost.

Heather's suggestion is great. Can you take a pic of option 2 giving us an idea of how it would look if you didn't use all of the crystals?

I think it would look beautiful all blinged out if you can fit it into the budget. What about using half the expensive crystals and maybe half of something cheaper? Or doing the trim all in crystals so the whole thing is covered and then some placed throughout to make it shine? Good luck coming up with a solution!
