Alrighty misses! After 50 days on a 30-40 day dress I decided to email Gianinar. They responded about 12 hours later.... with a finished dress!! I have to say, I am extremely impressed, especially since all the girls who had great reviews picked one already on their website, and I picked one separately (And it is not like a lot of the dresses I've seen. I also started getting nervous after some negative reviews started poping up). But I shouldn't have been. Their attention to detail amazes me.

Now, after saying that, I still have some issues (who wouldn't when it's for their wedding). They did let me know from the beginning they couldn't do exact, but would try to do their best. Like, I said, I think it is fabulous, but if I can make it as perfect as possible, I am going to try. If not, it's my TTD, so I can live. But I hope I can make it better, as I fell in love with the Amy Michelson, but not her usual $3,500-4,200 price tags (one of her other dresses that looks very similar is going for $1,500 USED on bravobride!!!) Here are my requests.... please tell me I'm not crazy! I included the proof pics and my correction pics. The link for the original is in #1 coming up.

1. I requested silk charmeuse (the fabric the dress is made of). They do not have it, so offered thin satin or chiffon. I did not want a stiff dress (which is why I was nervous about how it would turn out because most of their dresses on here are taffeta, and taffeta has never been the fabric for me. I'm a silky or lacy type of girl). The original is very soft and limp (amy michelson : Diamond) and flowy, so I was going to pick chiffon just for the sake of the flowiness (is that a word?). But, after talking it over with them, they figured thin satin (which is poly btw) should be fine. I agreed because my actual dress (Sottero & Midgley) has poly satin under the lace and it is very soft and flowy. Well..... the picture looks stiff to me. Hmmmm.

2. The neckline could also be a little deeper.

3. There are also fabric buttons all down the back on the original which I insisted on keeping (and they are not there).

4. I requested a slim A-line, and it sort of looks like a trumpet, but on a mannequin, who can really tell? So that aspect might be alright, what do you all think?

5. I noticed a blue spot on the side of the waist, but it could be a pin or lint.

6. And they told me they would include a bustle (which they might have, but I want a picture because another girl on here requested one and didn't get it).

I hope I don't seem to nit picky. I always notice everything, so I figure why not try to fix it. If it can't be fixed, I'll still be happy (as long as it fits, or can be altered to fit). Well now for the part you've been waiting for.....

ChristinaK: the BM dress came out fabulous and well you simply can't beat the price.

Peterpanpixiedust: I don't think you're being picky I can see all the little things you're talking about and the dress does look stiff. Now I think I am worried cause they are supposed to do mine in poly satin and I am hoping it won't be stiff. I'm sure they'll fix everything though, they did for ChristinaK. The V-neck should be deeper and well the buttons can always be added. I know it may seem like major changes but I am sure for them its very doable and easily fixable. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hi peterpanpixiedust,

I see what you mean. I have to admit it looks a little stiff. I really hope it is just the pictures. I ordered thin satin for my gown too and my dress looks a little stiff too.. what worries me too is that this thin satin doesnt look shiny... but maybe its the pictures too..

dont think you are picky. it is completely normal that you want you dress to be perfect. I sent at least 4 requests with changes to gianinar and they were always friendly with responding and fixing.

I will receive my dress soon. I will let you know how the thin satin feels and if it is flowy, ok?

She already responded to me that the reason she picked thin satin was because regular satin was shiny (i had mentioned I didn't like taffeta because it was too shiny, like coat lining). And that it is a little stiff. So I guess I'm going to live with it, I asked if maybe she could put a chiffon overlay on it... we'll see I guess. And here I thought it was thin satin because it would be thin like silk. Too bad they can't get silk over there. I would have been perfect. I still think it is gorgeous though! It's going in the water, so I should be fine. Can't wait to see your dress.

I'm getting nervous I haven't heard back yet.

The same thing happened to me initially. Then I went to the store on ebay and wrote a message through there letting them know that I had written prior and what had happened. Within 2 hours I got a reply from the [email protected] and a message through ebay apologizing for not seeing my earlier message through hotmail.
I imagine with all the requests sometimes e-mails can get overlooked. Try sending them another message or go through the ebay site like I did.

I second that. I messaged them through ebay but the rest of our transactions occurred via email/paypal.
