Does anyone ever pick a dress that's already on the site? And not something they suggest to them? I saw the dress originally on pinterest, so I've never seen it in person. Do most brides go to the stores, try on the dresses and then mark down the styles, and THEN go online and find it?

And thanks @@kmk2016, I will definitely go for a more reputed site!!

I'm no expert (haven't ordered)...but I have read as much as I can since I want to be 100% confident in the process. It seems like most brides at least make sure the silhouette suits their body by trying on similar dresses in a shop to get a better sense of how it will be. Then they use google image search to find out the original designer of a dress they find on Pinterest etc... Which helps when trying on dresses ahead of time. Almost all dresses on Chinese replica sites are reproduced from an original designer creation so it's likely out there somewhere!

I definitely will be trying the styles on myself first before ordering- and then will get custom measurements done locally/ and find a local seamstress in case I need alterations!

Did you decide who you will go with? I'm thinking I will go with Jasmines for my Gemma since the have done so many great ones for other brides... But may use Lace Marry (etsy) for my Monique Bliss- or may have Jasmines do both and simply have my BM dresses done by someone less expensive.

Also important- something I discovered in all my reading here in this thread and on weddingbee- is that there are some companies that buy your dress from china, mark it up, and resell it as American/Canadian made... So make sure you do your research on where you want to buy from and make sure they have tons of good reviews from real brides!

@@kmk2016 - I'm still figuring it out! I'm thinking about getting 2 dresses now haha. We're thinking of doing an AHR so I think that sequin one would make the perfect reception and AHR reception dress. So i'm thinking of also getting the Reem Acra one as a church ceremony here and TTD dress... :). OR I also like this Marchesa one Selena Gomez (haha) wore a couple years back

OOh did you decide on your designs? The Vera Wang Gemma? I LOVE love love that dress! Which ML Bliss? I tried on one a few weeks ago and it was gorgeous

Ooooh pretty!! I love all your choices!! Gettem all! Hahaha

As for me, the ML Bliss dress I like is 1330...

I am a D cup so I'm a bit worried how it will lay, and may need to change the under later to be more structured to not flatten me out... But we will see once I a similar style on.

@@kmk2016 - Ohh that's gorgeous and very sexy! Love the slit and the back. Have you tried it on yet? Next time you're in Toronto, I know White and Kleinfield carry ML Bliss if you still need to

Haha okay so that's where we differ. I have a meager not quite a B cup here and I'm adding cups to my dress to give me some shape :P. Hopefully Jasmine's can put some type of internal structure in yours!

@@tygrrlily hahaha so we aren't twins!!

I haven't tried them on yet- but I will at least try similar styles if not the originals just to make sure I don't look gross!

Yup gonna have to make a trip to kleinfelds for sure!

hey ladies. Has anyone checked on Grano Bridal? It's one that keeps popping up when I do searches and the prices seem reasonable. But I always wonder if these places are dodgy or not. I'm really worried about paying and ending up with junk. I've seen a couple of the dresses I like aleady on a couple of sites. Does that mean they are ones they've already made, or just trying to show the designers that they'll do? When you say about being measured, do you mean rather than picking a size?

Ive never heard of them. There are a ton of companies out there that seem to do good work...but Im too much a chicken to go with anyone that hasnt been used and reported on by many brides who are active on this or other forums. That's why for me its really only 3 or 4 companies I would consider... and Jasmines may be the most expensive of the replica dress makers but definitely does the best work when it comes to lace or beading. Simpler dresses may be ok to do with one of the lesser known companies- but I would still go with one that is heavily reviewed.

As for custom sizing, I guess I figure- if they are going to be making my dress for me specifically, I would rather lessen the chances of needing to spend the same amount in alterations, and thus one of the advantages of these companies is, they will work with your custom measurements. They will explain how to do the measurements on their websites... and I am going to have them done by my aunt who is a seamstress so they are correct. (Dont try and do them yourself)... that way the dress form will be your actual measurements and hopefully will fit you perfect (Or needing minimal alterations).

Has anyone heard of this site? It says it's australian and the prices are in australia dollars. I've found 4 of what I've looked at on the site. Does this mean they have already made them, or that they will make them?

What are the other ones? I know there is babyonline, jasmines and dressilyme. What am I missing? I'm really getting intrigued by this and wondering if it's worth just going ahead and ordering something and seeing how it turns out.
