Post all "Knock Off Wedding Dress" questions/comments here

Good Morning Ladies!  I have read through most of this post thread and have seen the pictures of your dresses.  I am getting married September 30th 2012 and I fell in love with my dress at David's Bridal, but I'm not willing to pay $1050 for a dress I'm wearing for 5 hours.  I guess that's my frugal nature.  I have found the dress on dhgate.com and was wondering if anyone has ordered from Beautydesign on dhgate?

Beautydesign has a 98.8% positive rate and very good feedback.

I am nervous because there is so much detail on the dress.  I don't mind if the embroidery or beading design is different, but I do care if the tulle is ragged or the organza ruffles are weird.

Has anyone purchased from dhgate?  Did you like their communication and service?  Can you post pics of their work?

Thanks to all in advance and congratulations on your weddings!

Heather

Hi heatherc234,

I tried that dress on at David's and loved it, too. I completely understand about not wanting to pay even a thousand dollars for a one-time wear dress.

Many of the women here have had nothing but positive things to say about Jasmines. I was going to go through Jasmine's bridal for my own dress, but they couldn't source the color/fabric I wanted for my dress. Since you care so much about quality, have you tried to contact them for a price quote for your dress?

I know that doesn't quite answer your questions about dhgate, but the words in your message, quality, communication, nervous, called me to respond to your post in this manner.

Hope this helps.

When you get them dont freak out like I did.. They take them during production. weeks before they send them. Remember they are production pictures and not what your dress looks like. I flipped on Amilia. I thought that was the current state of my dress. An update on my dress. I have taken it to get alterations. They are gonna cost me 200 dollars. Which isnt bad for alterations but it is bad since I gave SOP my exact measurments and they still make my dress to big. It sucks. Amilia said they always add an inch or 2 just in case. and i wasnt planning on that just in case.

I got my dress from dressylime!!!wohoo. It came in by fedex  in the tiny little box, all squched in there inside out. They did a nice job! The dress is so wrinkly tho. I probably will need some minor alteration, very little. cause the measurements that i took with my mother were good. I will post pictures this week when i have someone who can take them. Does anyone has any suggestion how to get this wrinkles out?obviously steam at dry cleaners, but my wedding is not for another 6month and i will be bringing it to the seamstress for alteration, so im sure it will get wrinkly again. My dress is made out of tafetta.

Steaming is going to be the best option. If you don't want to pay the $40ish to get it professionally steamed, maybe hanging it in the bathroom when you run a really hot shower will help. Personally, I'd go ahead and get it steamed. Your seamstress should steam it again after the alterations anyway.

I thought duosheng had the dress you wanted? I was very happy with my dress from Shades of Pale but I think that Jasmine's is a little more well known and a little pricier. I think when it comes down to which sellers are better, it just depends mostly upon what you want on you dress. One seller might make lace dresses better and another might be better at folds and another better at pickups and so on. Just my opinion.

Did you ever tell them how bad the dress was or ask for a refund or at least a discount on the dress? I wonder how these replica companies respond when someone isn't happy with the dress they got. It seems like from all the people who got bad dresses, that none of them got any of their money back. :(

I asked them to make it in a more pronounced sweetheart neckline.

I also removed the sash they had and added my own that I purchased on Etsy.

The dress is by no ways identical, but for $180 for a Trash The Dress I was very happy with it.

Here is how the dress was shipped and arrived, it seriously arrived on my door step in a black trash bag, LOL :
