I would just order another dress, and usually they can make with within 5 days assume the bride is a normal size nothing too weird size bride.  However, there is a big holiday coming in mid-sept, so if u wanna order another one from a reputable seller, u better do it asap.

So sorry to read that your dress was riped. I think if you had the time to send it back and get a refund then you should. Maybe they can still refund the money since they are sending a new tiara and necklace set as an apology? with your short time maybe a seamstress would be your best option but like everyone else said if you order another dress asap and tell them your time frame it might still work out. I was so upset to read this because i'm considering this company because of your older posts and their facebook page. They really need to inspect their dresses before shippment. Maybe you should warn the facebook page people as well.

I contacted the company and showed them the pictures and they apologized and they're sending me a new tiara and a necklace set as an apology.  The dress isn't completely ruined, most people probably won't even notice the rips in the fabric as they are mostly hidden by those "wrinkles", it just upsets me that it wasn't picked up on and now I have to try and fix it.  It can definitely be hidden behind the "wrinkles" with a little hand sewing, but that means that the wrinkles are there to stay :(

The rest of the dress is perfect and completely flawless, it's just that stupid rip and those ugly wrinkles!

Gathers

I haven't sewn anything in a really long time, but IMHO if your seamstress lets out the gathers on the right side of the dress, you will get the lifted-gather on your left hip the way you wanted it.

Rip

I suspect that the dress was ripped early and that is why the gathers were bunched on the right to 'hide' the rip. If the right hip was left free the rip would be more visible.

Shape

What I see as the biggest difference between the inspiration pic and your dress is that your dress looks more like a sheath instead of being A-line. You didn't say if you asked for that change in the dress. If not to get what could be a more-flattering shape of dress will require a new structuring of the entire skirt of the dress. This could probably be done because of the empire waist ban on the dress, but it might be costly. Considering that you probably got your dress at a good deal, you probably will still make out ahead with an altered dress and getting it customed designed (the pink embellishments).

Taking all three points together, I think restructuring the skirt might not be a bad idea. Don't worry. All is not lost, you still have multiple options reworking the dress, ordering a new one, or buying one.

I hope this helps.

weird size => anything above 16..., like I have mentioned before China is still an emerging country, so obesity is still rare.  the dressmaker probably never seen anyone in that size real life.

Chinese chicks are usually not very tall as well, so I would say..normal size would be 4-10, with height of 5ft2 to 5ft 8.

There's actually a lady who works out of her basement.  It sounds pretty sketchy, but she actually does most of the alterations for the biggest bridal store in town :)  So I'm hoping she can      work miracles for me!!

I actually have very weird measurements, that's why I got it custom fit :(  I think I'm going to stick with the dress and just try to get it fixed as best I can.  Thanks for the tip though, I didn't realize they could make them so quickly!

I should probably clarify.  They still did an AMAZING job on the dress.  The embroidery is absolutely perfect and better than I was even expecting!  It's just this rip and these wrinkles.  I didn't get to see the front of the dress before it was shipped.  They had a hard time taking pics for me because they didn't have a model big enough to put the dress on to take pictures.  Maybe if I had seen the full front of the gown before it was shipped I may have picked up on it.  So it is possible that this is a fluke and is a one-off situation.  I do know ladies who have had great success with these guys, that's why I chose them in the first place.

I'm hoping that it can still have the draped gathers like on the original gown, but I'm worried that this rip will throw a wrench in the whole thing.  And I'm thinking they were trying to hide the rip too.  It wouldn't be a huge deal if I liked having a wrinkly belly lol  A little hand sewing and the rip would be fully hidden.

I didn't ask for the dress to be taken from an a-line to a sheath, but I have such a weird shape (I'm pretty much a cylinder!  blink.gif) so I'm thinking because of my shape it just came out like that...  If she can adjust the skirt then I say all the power to her!

Then they must have almost had a heart attack making my dress!  lol  I'm definitely above a size 16, and I'm 5'10" barefoot, over 6' in my heels lol  My hollow-to-hem was 160"  lol
