Post all "Knock Off Wedding Dress" questions/comments here

Hi ladies! This is a great thread and I'm hoping I can call on some of you experts for some advice! :) I'm interested in getting these two dresses made and would like to know the best maker for them. (Doesn't have to be the same maker.)

The wedding dress isn't normally very expensive, but I want some changes made to it like a corset back, for example. I would really appreciate any thoughts! The dress picture is terrible, but it has some rouching on the top, and the bottom is chiffon. (Mori Lee voyage 6701, I think)

The bridesmaid dress would be magenta and the black "stripes" are mesh. I think the fabric is tafetta, but I am definitely not certain. (Simone Carvalli Fall 2010 97007?)  Thanks in advance!

I have been reviewing this tread although never commented .......... I decided to buy a knock off , went with Gianinarbridal . I sent a picture several times of the inspiration dress . my knock off is made, i love it in some ways but the beading is completely off

I think the original dress was a simple dress made beautiful by the beading , i choose that design based on the beading and even paid Gianinarbridal a bit more to use a high quality swavoski

very disappointed in the beading of the knock off, I think they might make it worse if i ask to amend it because i sent several pictures intially and they still got it wrong .. sent several comment detailling how the beading should be............ i might end up purchasing another dress or find a way to add more beading

what do you think........... bin it or keep it

I received my bridesmaids dresses late last week from MonicaBridal and they are FANTASTIC! not only are they almost an exact match to what my girls asked for but the quality is amazing!

The bodice has boning, the hems are perfect and there are even the little elastic straps on the inside of the dress to help hold the 'strapless' dresses up.

When I get a chance I will take some photos up close to give you an idea, but I would easily order from them in a heart beat and my sister is ordering a dress for herself and her daughter very soon :)

ps I understand when I post my pictures that the 'style' of dress is not everyone's preference and may look like maternity dresses etc :) but I just want to show the quality to you all!

I recently thought about a lot on better communication regarding dress quality and style, so finally I was like "why don't I just look into Chinese commercial website and communicate with seller there in Chinese" since I am very fluent in Chinese. Lucky for me, I did find a small boutique owner whose dress quality seems superb on taobao.com (Chinese ebay site). I chatted with her and she showed me inside the bodice and bottom (with lining and two layers of hard tulle besides the decorative layers). She also adviced me that spring is a very busy season for wedding dress industry in China since lots of couples like to get married in May (there's a one week national holiday in may and nice weather) and they all start to order the dress right after Chinese New Year in Feb. So it's not a really good idea to order in spring (at least until april) and compete with them.

i actually pasted together different dresses...the skirt was inspired by LA Sposa Desmont dress.. and then the top was taken from some random v-neck dress I found online with a corset back I don't remember which sorry!

@misst: Do you already have it or is this your confirmation before ship picture? If it hasn't shipped I'd first try to get them to fix it.

If it has & you love everything else besides the beading, I say keep it & have it rebeaded local so you can be involved in the fix. (or do it yourself if you have those skills?) You don't want to pay to send it back to only have it done wrong again. It should be fairly doable & reasonably priced (I think). You could purchase the materials/beads yourself.  It's not as if it's a massive amount of beading all through the skirt or anything. I think they did a great job with the general look of the dress, honestly. Good luck whatever you do!

MISST,

If they still have the dress which base on the pictures, It looks like they still do since it looks like they still have some sewing to do, I would ask them to try to fix it one more time, and explain that you would fold on the purchase if beading doesn't improve.  Also, i would just find out how much it is to get the beading fixed locally and see if it's worth getting the dress and fix it locally or just getting another dress.

Sorry that your having a bad experience ;(
