Blackkinu,  I was at a bridal store yesterday and they had these belts that you can add to a plainer dress.   How about if you had them remove the beading and went with a nice lacey sash with beading one, something you can find in your area?    I would ask them to do the details in the picture, it is definitely a lot more feminine with the scalloped flower design opposed to the diamonds.

Thanks!  I just spoke to them again and they said they have started to mail my dress. I was a little late with the added concern, but I think I might have just been thinking too hard about it. I think it looks nice and well worth the money. I suppose seeing the closeup detail of the orginal did that for me.

So excited about my dress and I am sure once its on I will be happy.

Blakknu, they are so quick, aren't they?!  So happy to hear that your dress is in the mail and on it's way to you.  We want to see pics of you in it!

I came to this forum through this thread and contemplating getting a dress made. I sketch and was looking into designing something custom or going with something poofy and simple with the material of my choosing but that I could embellish later myself..   Today through the smart bridal boutique consignment boutique I found THE dress.   A Maggie Sottero discontinued style from a few years ago, just in my price range because the bride was nice to let me negotiate a price.  Not my pic but the same dress and in ivory, the detail is exquisite. $575 but well worth it because I ADORE it (being super picky)

If anything I'll look into getting a dress made in China for trash the dress, I checked out our chinese mall (biggest chinese mall in north america) that we have here in Toronto and they're selling dresses for way more than if I got it straight from china, even though they do the same custom tailoring and have suggested it to me.   Makes sense, how they make money :)

It's all coming together.

Hey ladies I am new to all this and SO glad I came across this thread :)

I always had the plan to buy my wedding dress online but could never find good enough reviews to feel confident enough!

So I have already bought my dress before finding this but have decided to get my bridesmaid dresses from Gianinar Bridal (ebay)

They were REALLY quick to reply to me and have quoted me $300 total for all 3 dresses including the shipping :)

My girls were still a little bit worried about ordering online so I have asked if I can pay a $50 deposit for them to get one dress started and then I will confirm

with them once I see the proof pictures if it has been made the way we want! I figured this way even if I take the risk and it doesnt work out I am only out of

pocket $50 but if they turn out just as beautiful as the other dresses I have seen on here then we will have ourselves a bargin!!!

Cant wait to see all your dresses you girls have ordered!!!!!

Your dress is gorgeous! Luck you could get the original designer. I am so happy for you. We aren't going to do a trash the dress photo because my fiance doesn't want to get his hair wet! ^_^ So we will probably only use the outfits we have. He also said there isn't anything he wants to trash. He is hilarious because he says its a waste to trash good clothes.

Can you ever recover an outfit after a trash the dress shoot?

blackkinu - I wouldn't worry about really trashing anything. In the UK they refer to them as day after shoots which is a little less threatening. Most girls say their dresses actually come out cleaner after swishing around in the water. It gets rid of the dirt that gets dragged around in your train. It's also another day to wear your dress! My FI is nervous about our TTD session too, he thought I wanted him to wear his wedding suit but I told him to just get a white shirt and comfy pants.

LOL!!! My SO also HATES getting his hair wet.   I honestly had not thought about the point you brought up!!

Originally I did not want to actually "Trash" the dress, I just wanted the fun sort of us wearing the formal clothes but doing things we like to do like drinking bubble tea or frappachinos and playing chess with the giant chess board or boxing with each other using those puffy blow up toy things.  Fun creative energetic "out of place" wedding photos, that's what trash the dress to me kinda is.

As for actually trashing, it's usually in the water, or involving wine, or paint, or something messy.   The ocean shoots are nice but I don't know if I want to get my hair wet either since it will be styled and so I should re think it. hehe.

I can't see why a dress can't be washed after it has been in the ocean, I would soak it in the bathtub to get the salt out and then dry it.   It is probably better to go with a simple design with a fabric that will wash easily.

Wine will probably not come out :)
