That looks great, Running Bride! It's good to see that they can do the complicated straps like that. You went through Gianinar, right?

Yep! I was worried at first because the straps were complicated but they came back great! The material and quality is even good. I was worried it might look cheap but it doesn't at all.

sooo glad I found this thread! looking though landy site now there are sooo many!

I founda  few on lightin the box that I love but ther reviews werent that great so I think I will avoid them. I have three appts this week to try on wedding dresses, one ia an appt at the Vera Wang sample sale, I hope I can fit into some of those samples!

 

Anyway it will give me an idea of what I like right?

I also tried on a Vera Wang dress and the minute I tried it on, I knew it was the one! I did not want to take it off!  I cried hysterically! I loved it so much that I bought it right then and there

Here's my advice: try on dresses from the previous season, for example, my dress is from the spring 2010 collection, just as her spring 2011 collection came out and I got a great deal! 20% off! 

I'm not sure if a Vera knock off can come close to the real thing... it's worth a try, but definitely try looking for the real ones on sale first.

I dream of the day I can finally wear mine (knowing it's the real thing)!

Totally agree with you! If you can afford the dress or find some love ones to take the burden, buying the original dress on sale is a great option.  Vera Wang's dresses, unlike Pronovias, LaSposa, San Patrick, Maggie Sottero, are all made in USA with silk and hand stitched appliques, it is hard for a chinese dressmaker to replicate it but her dresses can be complexe.

 

I had my eyes on the Vera Wang's Diana and Doris for a long time, but my FI would never understand why people would spend so much on a wedding dress.  In fact, he laughs his head off when we watch Say Yes to the Dress together.  He buys $2000 tailored made suits, and $70K on my engagement ring, because he sees them as investments...and the wedding dress is a depreciating asset (according to his math).  So I had the choice of a Vera Wang dress or a tennis bracelet as gift...I picked the tennis bracelet...heehee...after all, diamonds are girls' bestfriends.

Lucky for me, my Mom is a designer/dressmaker and I've always known since I was little she would be making my wedding gown. I've been designing it in my head since then and I will get exactly what I want with the highest quality materials without having to pay for her 'name' to be on it.

 

But being the daughter of a designer also means that I know quality, and I love fashion, and would never be able to pay $2k for a polyester dress. If I didn't have my Mom, I'd be buying high-end for sure.
