Okay....I just got a quote back from the "sound system" people and it is going to cost us over $700 just for a microphone and speakers...Did other brides pay this because that seems insane to me. We just want to have speeches during dinner and we're renting the pool side after for dancing. All together that's only 4 1/2 hours and I thought it was supposed to be only $70/hour!

Hi ladies,

 

 So it's been 7 months since I was married at the RIU Vallarta and was thinking about it as my friend wants to have a destination wedding, so I thought I'd write what I thought.

 

Definately get everything in writing! The WC gave us a book to choose what we wanted in terms of food, cake, flowers, champagne, music etc............ and all went wrong. I mean everything. The toast was supposed to be on the beach, I had the list of songs to play as the girls, then myself walked down the aisle, my cake was supposed to be 2 tiers, white and chocolate, instead I got a half melted ice cream cake from the buffet, the ceremony was 1/2 hour late because the WC forgot my flowers, I had some vegetarian guests in my group, and even though thats what was ordered, they all got meat. 

 

To say the least it was very disappointing, I would not recommend booking a wedding here. The only 2 pluses were they upgraded us to an amazing suite and the photographer was excellent.

 

My husband and I stayed at the Palace for our honeymoon, much much nicer.

I'm reading some great posts from the Riu Palace and Riu Vallarta brides/grooms out there... but is anyone getting married at the Riu Jalisco?  Just put down payments down! March 2012

I am very serious about doing my wedding at the Riu Vallarta in February 2013. I haven't booked yet but was hoping to get some help from you experienced ladies on the site!!!

 

I haven't really heard a straight answer for cost to rent the pool side bar with speaker/mic. Is it $200 per hour for the pool side bar + $700 for the audio??? Any help would be appreciated.

 

With regards to the upstairs Flamingo restaurant, is there an extra cost for this? To what extent will they decorate for you? Any option for small lights and white drape style decorations along with flowers. Is it possible to have this for the entire night? If so, what kind of drinks do they serve?

 

For the beach ceremony, is it possible to have a different arch? 

 

Also, I am in need of a photographer. Would prefer to hire from the outside..Any good recommendations?

Hello Riu Brides, Getting married at the riu Vallarta in nov 2014 and I just received information from my WC Lidia. Just wondering if anyone used just an iPod Dock at the pool bar? How did that work out for you? I am sending an email in ragged a to renting a speaker but figured I might be able to save some money somewhere ? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
