Congrats on your engagement! Thanks so much for the advice. You mentioned that you were also getting married in Vegas. May I ask where? Is your ceremony & reception in the same location? How many guest are you expecting?

We have booked the gigi room at Joe's in the Forum Shops. It is stunning and has a great view of the strip. It seats up to 100 people for dinner and there is also a private bar in the room as well. They also have a wireless handheld mic and projection screen and projector available. The food is AMAZING!!!!!!!!

We then have a limo picking us up and shuttling all our guests down to New York, New York for a great party at the bar at times square with dueling piano's.

I'm getting married at the Wynn Wedding Salons with one of their pkgs. For the reception we looked at a few outside venues such as:

 

Alize' at the top of the Palms

Rosemary's Restaurant

Bouchon in the Venetian

 

and the inside venues to the Wynn, including Wynn catering

 

Many brides who do the Wynn have their reception at Maggianos, which is across the street.

 

Our main thing was that we didn't want to travel too far - with Vegas traffic and all. Plus the complication of arranging transport for everyone. We limited our review to venues in the N. Strip.

 

So we ended up at Daniel Boulud in the Wynn. We are expecting about 30 guests, and they have a private room with a view of the Lake of Dreams that is the perfect size for us, plus, the restaurant and view is so pretty that we won't need to spend any money on decorations. They do have a F&B minimum, but we will easily meet that with our lunch reception.

 

We will be also having an in-suite party later that evening where we will cut the cake, since DB charges a $9/head cake fee if we bring the cake from outside!!! I am also having then quote a cake to avoid the fee, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of doing the cake later in the evening. The lunch will have a dessert included in the menu anyway, and I am a bit miffed at the whole idea of a $9 cake fee. I mean, I think some kind of fee is reasonable, but $9!!! Anyway, it'll be a better chance to really showcase the cake if we have it at the evening party. We are arranging for drop-off catering for the rest of the in-suite party food, and buying our champagne, wine, and booze at Costco rather than having the Wynn cater it.

Wededbliss2010 - we're having our reception at Boa Steakhouse in the Forum Shops at Caesars. The menu is awesome, the group dining co-ordinator is fantastic and the view from the private patio is to die for!

I'm also a Vegas bride - getting married in just over 6 months at the Wynn, reception at Boa Steakhouse in Caesars Palace. You definitely have more than enough time to plan and put a Vegas wedding together, the coordinators in Vegas really have planning down to a science!

Ladies:

 

You are totally making rethink the ceremony/reception same place theme. The Wynn is lovely, but since they didn't have a food beverage etc package I started looking at other places. What are you doing for photos/video of the ceremony/reception? And I to assume that there will be no first dance, mom/son & father/daughter dance? Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to keep my options open and you ladies have this down to a science.

I hear you on having tons of questions! The Vegas board isn't nearly as active as the others focused on Mexico/jamaica/caribbean, etc. so there doesn't seem to be as much information here on it.

 

I knew from the start that I didn't want dancing at my wedding. It also worked out that the only good slot open at my ceremony venue on the date I wanted was in the morning - and we didn't want guests to twiddle their thumbs fo 6 hours waiting for an evening reception with dancing anyway. So converging on lunch reception with an informal party in the evening in our suite just kind of rolled out of it. I'd been to morning wedding/lunch receptions before and I actually kind of prefer them. Plus we'll actually be able to relax and hang out with our guests that way at the in-suite party.

 

If you elect to have a private room in a restaurant, or use the meeting rooms/catering at a hotel, most, if not all, will let you setup a reception with a dance floor - I don't think that will be a problem. And many catering companies will help you find a venue and setup that will accomodate a reception and dance floor. I never looked into it closely, though, so hopefully other brides can provide more insight on this.

 

As for photography, we are using the photographer that came with our wedding pacakge, and adding on additional time. We will also do the "photo guestbook" idea that there are postings about elsewhere on the site, and will have the those ubiquitous "table cameras" at the reception and at the party.

Congratulations. We are getting married in Las Vegas on July 28th at the Little Chapel of the Flowers. I finally reserved the chapel yesterday and spoke with one of their wedding planners. The process was very easy and the packages were very reasonable. We are on a budget and were looking for the most economical package while also having it be beautiful and wonderful. We are going to have about 20 guests come to Vegas to celebrate with us.

We are still undecided about where we will go for lunch afterward since our wedding will be in the morning. We want it to be fun and have narrowed it down to Firefly or Kahunaville @ Treasure Island. I have changed my mind so many times. The whole process of planning a wedding in Vegas is not very time consuming (I guess that also depends on the size of your wedding), but we are going small and I haven't felt any stress!!!
