Hi Angie,

CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the forum! You will be getting married about a month before me!

Let me tell you - booking at PF you have already made the best and most important decision. My planning has gone so smoothly so far - love it! Also - the ladies on here are SO helpful! Be sure to look over past threads, etc. to see what others have done, tips, etc.

Happy planning and again, congrats!

Vanessa

Thank you Vanessa!

Congratulations to you too!  I have read through many of the threads on here, it is almost addicting.  My planning thus far has been pretty smooth, we have only really had to decide on the photographer and officiant for the ceremony.  I have started the dress search as well.  How about you? The only thing I am nervous about is filling up the rooms.  We are doing a partial takeover, and so far we (my fiance and I) are the only room booked.  I know everyone was busy with the holidays and it is still a ways off.  I guess I won't really start stressing until it gets closer.  Which D & E package did you choose?

Happy planning wink.gif

Thanks Angie!

I have been searching for dresses online for a while now – however just booked my first appointment for next month. Figured I really couldnâ€t keep putting it off – weâ€ll see how it goes!

Yes, Iâ€d say so far filling the rooms has been the only thing remotely stressful in the process and I think a lot of the girls on here would agree. However, you still have plenty of time. Iâ€m currently working on getting our invitations designed to send them out around June to serve as yet another reminder for people to book (we sent the Save the Dates out in July – yes, weâ€ve had a long engagement!). That way if there are definitive ‘Noâ€s†we can possibly invite others (on the B list…) if we need more rooms filled. We are also doing a partial takeover and so far have 11 rooms booked (including ours). Good luck!!

As for the D & E package, we chose #1. We were a little bummed that karaoke was no longer an entertainment option for us when we booked; however the FI is already looking forward to some Texas Hold Em. We are also thinking of planning a day outing with Vallarta Adventures (zip lining, etc.) during the week.  Are you leaning towards anything in particular yet?

Hi Vanessa-

OMG!  I feel so behind that you already have 11 rooms booked.  That is great!  We sent out our Save-the-Dates in early November to give people plenty of time.  The Save-the-Dates directed them to our website where I have an RSVP set up.  However, only a few people have replied.  Not sure yet when we will be sending out the official invites, probably sometime in July as well.  How many people did you invite so far?  We invited a 100, hoping that will be plenty to fill up the rooms.

We are doing D & E #1 too.  We decided to pay for that as we didn't want to add any extra costs to the room rate.  We are planning to do the Texas Hold 'Em Tournament, my fiance and his friends are very into Poker, so he is pretty excited about that.  The only excursion that we are planning is a charter fishing trip for the guys.  Other than that we wanted to give guests some time to themselves, so they didn't feel like they were on a constant schedule of events.

Which minister are you using, or are you bringing your own?

Hi Angie!

Donâ€t feel behind – we just sent out our Save the Dates out about 4 months earlier! We included instructions to book as an insert with the Save the Dates – as well as some information on our website. I have found that very few people have actually gone to the website though! I know some brides have sent out a “reminder†with instructions and this has helped if booking is still slow.

We sent out around 35 Save the Dates, so invited about 70-80 people total. However, some of my family has older kids who need their own rooms so we have a couple of situations where one family has had to book 2 rooms, etc. so I think that has bolstered the numbers.

Your entertainment choices sound great! I agree with you about not wanting to have people be on a “scheduleâ€. We havenâ€t officially reserved anything yet w/ Vallarta Adventures, but this is what most people have been inquiring about. I think that after we get our invitation RSVPs back, weâ€ll start to ask those attending if they are interested in any activities and go from there.

As for the minister, we are using Lucie, mainly because she speaks French & Spanish. Some of my family is Spanish-speaking only, so I wanted her to be able to do some parts of the ceremony in Spanish.

Happy planning – and have a great weekend!

Sounds like you girls are doing awesome! We did the texas hold'em tourney too- Adam is a really good teacher. And the guys went fishing. They liked it, they said it was fun seeing the whales, etc too but it is a long day so be prepared for that!

We didn't plan anything for the girls so we all lounged, had breakfast together, some went shopping, I went snorkling for a couple of hours and it was fun! Great not to be on a schedule.

Kate-

Did your fiance and the guys do a charter fishing trip and did they go with one of the local businesses?  We have looked into one, I believe it's called Mr. Marlin Sportfishing.  Also, which day did they do it?  We are doing the 4 night stay, so wondering where this activity might fit in.

Thanks.

Angie

We booked through Lindsay... it was chartered but local guys that were great. PF does a good job of finding reliable/reasonable vendors! The guys went Wednesday morning... so second day. I think they wished it were the 3rd day but that was spa day. See if you can get it switched to that! Many of the guys were hung over from the welcome dinner festivities. Even the light drinkers- different climate, first day of vacay, etc. It happens:)

You can easily do the poker tourney/spa day on the same day bc not everyone will play. I played cards for a little bit... but then decided I'd like to be in the sun more!

Hi everyone - I am looking at PF for my wedding and am just wondering if you all thought your guests were happy with the hotel (i.e. size etc).  I am worried people would be disappointed that for the price there is only a small pool, no spa, no workout room, no beach...did you find your guests cared about any of that stuff or had other complaints about the hotel?  I am trying to figure out if we should look at the larger resorts instead.  Thanks!!
