Playa Fiesta Weddings

Recommended Posts

hi girls,

i'm very interested in have my Feb 2010 wedding at Fiesta, can anyone shed some light on the average cost per person? I noticed on their site that 'all inclusive' packages are incremental to the standard stay. Also, are you working directly with the WC at the hotel or are you using a local agency/wc? thanks!

asara - it depends on how long you stay, what part of the week and what time of the year. we're staying Tuesday through Sunday for 5 nights in November so it's working out to about $750 per guest (plus there is an additional 27% tax and house charge) so it turns out to be $1000 for the 5 nights (with double occupancy). But this covers all beverages and most meals (minus lunches and 2 dinners for my guests)...plus a 30 minute massage for each guest.

I think this is definitely more than if I would have gone with an all inclusive hotel but I know that it will be a better experience for my guests. A couple things to consider:

- The food. I've stayed at some AIs and the food is only so-so to not-so-hot. I did a tasting at PF and the food was great. (plus all the reviews say the same).

- Privacy/Intimacy. PF offers the best option, IMO besides doing a villa for your wedding. Plus, all week my guests will get to hang out with each other and us.

- Service. All the staff I met at PF was so helpful and friendly. And from all the reviews that i've read on BDW and Trip Advisor seem to confirm this.

Good luck with your decision. I was also worried about the price, but all our guests seem to think it's not too bad so far.

Jennie, Kate's right, we also had a friend officiate...this meant we could write our own ceremony and it was very personalized, intimate, and special.

I spoke to a bride who used Lucie AND a bride who used Barry and both were very, very happy with them. Do you have a preference for man or woman?

This is from the Bride's page on the website:

Lucie is a Canadian and she is fluent in English, French and Spanish. Lucie will email you ahead of time to go over the ceremony content and text. She will meet with you the week of your wedding at Playa Fiesta for an additional $100.

Lucie is $550 for the spiritual ceremony.

Lucie can also assist with a legal ceremony. Her fee to assist with the legal portion of the ceremony is $300USD (not including the cost of blood tests, judge, marriage class, etc).

Minister Barry

Barry, an American, will not email ahead of time and instead prefers to meet the couple two days before the wedding to go over the ceremonial details. Barry believes that keeping his sermon a surprise gives the ceremony a fresh and lively feel. At your meeting you may suggest things that you absolutely want your friends and family to enjoy and those items you definitely do not want included. Ultimately though Barry won't divulge much and gives each couple their own personal words of wisdom.

Barry is $550 for the spiritual ceremony.

Thanks girls for your responses. I don't really have a preference and neither does FI. However, I think we might go with Barry b/c I like the idea of having someone a little more eccentric and it's nice that he donates his fee to charity.

Thanks again!

We are using Barry for our ceremony - I think Lindsay suggested him, based on our personality and desire for a pretty secular ceremony . I agree - I think his donation to charity is great!

Now we're trying to decide on music - or I'm trying to decide on music! Are you girls using live music? And if so, who did you choose? I can't make a decision!? I splurged on our photographer - we went with Michelle Turner!! Photos are pretty high on our priority list, so I thought it was worth the splurge and I would try to rein in spending somewhere else. Does everyone do this? I suspect in the end, I'll probably justify spending everywhere?! Who did you all choose for photos?

DB2B, we went with Michelle too. I love her style! I am having a hard time deciding on live music. If I do get it, it will be for the ceremony. Lindsay recommended the mariachis. I just wish I could hear a sample of the type of music they would play for the ceremony.

Do any of you ladies who have already had your wedding at PF have any video that has audio of your live music choice?

I will soon I think. I know it was good only bc my guests commented. My heartbeat was so loud walking down the isle, and the waves... didn't hear a thing. But it was cool hearing it while you are waiting... it meant it was time to go!
