Halifax/ Toronto Question (Location related)...

Hi Tia! Cognratulations!!

We have guests flying out of Montreal, Moncton and Toronto.

We used itravel2000 as our TA, but the carriers are all Air Canada Vacations. We priced out the trip on Air Canada Vacations to give us an idea of what was reasonable and itravel beat them by 100$ per guest.

I would only suggest this once you have narrowed down your resorts/destination though. You want to pick a place that you love and can handle financially, then consider everyone else budgets.

Best of luck!

Hi! and Congratulations!! You're definately in the most stressful part of planning a DW but don't worry it gets a lot easier after you decide and book a resort.

We're flying out of Halifax and when we looked for prices DR, Cuba, Mexico and Jamaica were all pretty comparable. We're paying $200-$300 more than it would cost from Toronto but paying less than our guests flying out of Edmonton. Like the others said, a TA would help but you can always browse online...however, we did tons of that but until we got prices from our TA it was really hard to tell which we would go for.

Happy Planning!

We were married in DR about 6 weeks ago & were in the same situation as you. Over half of our guests were going from Halifax & the other half from TO. As far as prices go there was only maybe $30 in the difference - and I think Halifax was the cheaper!!! But that's because it's about the same distance/flight time to the DR. We paid roughly $1500 for both gateways. Mexico may be a bit more expensive for Halifax because it's farther away.

If you work with a TA they should be able to get you prices & price comparisons now before you can get them online yourself. Be wary of booking before flight schedules are released - we actually originally booked on the Saturday, but then when flight schedules actually came out it was a Sunday departure instead. Luckily our guests worked around it, but it was huge hassle for a lot of them.

Good luck picking a destination...that is by far the hardest part of planning a DW!!

Oh...and is your name Tia...or did you mean Thanks in Advance?? lol

If you have a good TA like I do they can come up with a few options for you. My sister is also coming from Halifax to Cabo and my TA gave her 2 great options. One was a quick West Jet connection to TO from Halifax then a charter to Cabo. The second one was about $200 - $300 cheaper. My TA did a land only rate for the hotel and then put a flight together for them. That way they could choose when they departed insead of having the charter dictate. Of course, you do have a longer flight and you have to arrange your own transfer to the hotel but it'll still be cheaper in the long run. I know in Cabo taxis can cost about $20 - $50 pp. Just talk with your TA about all options. It's definetly worth it!
