Who hosts the bridal shower?

I am having a destnation wedding, do I have to have a bridal shower? It just seems like a waste of time and money.

Totally up to you! I had one as both my husband and I lived at home until a month before the wedding when we bought a house and we had NOTHING.  Also, the people that could not come to Mexico still wanted to be a part of the wedding so I felt a shower was necessary- I ended up having 3 lol. But if you have everything you need and everyone is coming to your wedding- forgoe it!

We are having a "come as you are" pot luck for those who can't make it... because quite frankly we can't help get there, so if they can't afford it, then it's okay with us. <-- my new montra when ever I feel a 'well *I* went to *her* wedding' moment comming on (LOL).

Im going to dissuade anyone from hosting one if asked... but hoping I dont! Im excited for a night out with the girls sometime before the wedding, but as for a shower- I am already asking my guests to spend so much money to attend our wedding, that I would be embarrassed to ask them to attend a shower when a gift is usually implied at these events.
