its weird how as soon as 2010 hit, your mind set changed so fast! my wedding isn't until August and i feel like i am not where i should be at this point..eeeek! i dont even really know where to start!

I need to vent a little bit as well! so it could be long haha - moreso just me complaining.

so my MOH is doing the invitations for us, we went out together and bought all the stuff so she could get started on them in September! so that was about 4 or 5 months ago now. I asked her if i could get them from her at the beginning of december and she said no problem, so december rolls around and nothing, i asked her a couple times, trying not to be mean about it, cause i know these things take time. so last weekend, i called her and asked if i could come and pick up the invitations and she said she wasn't done yet! so i was like ok then, how much longer do you think you will need? so she said a week, so thats fine. SO i mentioned to her that i was just doing up my envelopes with the labels and what not, and she goes, well you can just drop them off here and i can stuff them for you. so i was like what?!

so keep in mind that i havent even seen what she has done so far, and she wants to stuff the envelopes without me even seeing the invitations. she hasn't even told me where she is at with them, despite me asking her.

i know that if i had volunteered to do someone's invitations for them that i would be giving them a progress report and letting them ssee what i was doing just to make sure i was going in the right direction - but nothing...ughh.

so yeah, that was my vent - not really sure what to do about that. My FI is angry about it, but she is my best friend, so i dont want to be mean to her...

Oh Stephers, you are a stronger woman than me! I did my invitations myself and didn't let anyone else even touch them. My MOH is also my soon to be sister in law, she has offered to help, but honestly I'm a control freak, and so I'm very particular about what I would allow her to help with. Have you thought about suggesting that you two stuff the envelopes together? You could suggest to have a friend date and get together to finish up the invites together. Maybe that might be a way for you to be more involved in the situation and put some soft pressure on her to get her butt in gear. That way you could also see the invites before they are sent out?

krista.baird, I knowww! the worst part is that i have already suggested making dates so i could help her out, i also said we could stuff them together and she told me that she didnt need any help! everytime i ask her thats her response. I asked her if she could bring a sample of just ONE of them to our soccer game a few weeks ago and she said she didnt want to in case it got ruined - its not like i was going to run around on the field with it haha. so i dont get it - she isn't being truthful about something - thats the vibe i am getting, anyway.

thanks for the suggestion though :)
Im just running out of ideas - but i guess i can always just get them from her and say i will finish the rest! i just feel so mean though sad.gif

hi ladies,

i feel like the time is flying. august 7 is right around the corner! i am slightly annoyed because i'm working with destinationweddings.com and i'm not happy with my TA. i just sent a note telling them i'd like a new TA (specifically Sue Adams because I've heard great things). I wish I would've worked with Tammy and her TAs but I didn't learn about them until I joined the forum - which was after I set the date (sigh). I just feel that if you're my stinkin TA I should be able to count on you to be responsive and be helpful! My TA has been neither! ugh.

But I will not let it steal my excitement. T-minus 7 months until the big day!

Hey girl - that sounds a little fishy to me too! Mmm...well, I know it's hard, but sometimes you just gotta take things into your own hands. I know it may seem mean, but it is your special day! I don't think it's mean if you tell her that those invites need to go out like yesterday because people have to have time to decide if they can afford to come, if they are going to book, etc. It's not just about her, but it's about all your guests that are awaiting those invites!

You could say something like "I really appreciate all your help and your efforts towards making this experience wonderful for me. I'm a little worried about the invites though because I really wanted them to go out by December at the latest, so my guests will have lots of time to decide what they are doing. Plus the sooner I can get the RSVP, the sooner I can start planning other things like decorations, OOTs bags, etc. Would it be okay if I just take the invites and finish them up because I really need to for my own peace of mind."

I really hope that you can figure something out with this situation! I understand how hard/complicated/frustrating this wedding stuff can be! My MOH is my fiance's sister and we have been best friends for a few years now, inseperable, but since we started this wedding planning, she's been really mopey and distant from me! She's single and hasn't had a boyfriend in a long time, but she's pretty much the same age as me. Everytime we do wedding stuff, she ends up leaving or getting grumpy - it's like a pity party for her because "she's single" and "she'll never find a boyfriend and get married" (according to her that is). Plus, alot of her friends are getting married and having babies. I feel for her, I do, but it really puts a damper on my wedding stuff, when every time I get together with my MOH I feel depressed for her NOT getting married more than I feel excited about my GETTING married.... LOL...okay that's my rant...

Baglover - I totally know what you are talking about! I've tried to be in contact with like 5 different TA's over the last 2 months from several different agencies and NOTHING! It's awful! I've resorted to having my guests book on their own. sad.gif

Heyy,
Yeah thats actually a great way of saying something to her! good thinking wink.gif i will have to get on that asap, for sure.

I think she had a problem with the wedding for some reason in the first place, not because of who i am marrying, but my FI's bestman is her ex! so i am best friends with her, and Dan is best friends with her ex - they dated for two years, but she hasn't actually addressed that as an issue - she always just says they are still friends - so who knows!
im sure everything will work out just great though!

I know what you mean about the whole being grumpy situation as well - she is also like that! im not really sure why, i guess it could be because all our gf's are with someone and she isn't? id ont know!

That sucks that you feel that way though sad.gif you dont want someone raining on your parade!! you should feel excited all the time, and everyone around you should feel excited FOR you, no matter their situation - its not their life, its yours :) I know some people can be envious - but hey, they are in a weddding that is taking place in MEXICOO! woooo!! should be happy about that :)

thanks again for the help though! i am going to see if i can get anything from her this weekend.

Stephers - You're welcome for the help! And wow...your FI's bestman is her ex...mmm...that might be why she is acting so strange! And they dated for 2 years, that's a pretty serious relationship. Does the ex have a new girlfriend that he's bringing to the wedding or something?

Ahh weddings, they are so interesting and complicated, aren't they? Everytime I start to get anxious or upset about some crap that's going on with my wedding, I just try to visualize walking down the sandy beach and the ocean, and my FI, and I get so pumped up I can barely contain it! :) Just makes me wanna dance! bunny_4.gif LOL!
