iPod Speaker Question

Recommended Posts

AHHHHH! I just got a quote from maye for $125/hour for speaker rentals. This seems very high. We would just bring down one of those docking stations, but I don't think that it will be loud enough for 70 people. Has anyone else gotten any quotes for renting speakers in Cabo?

If you are getting married at the RIU in Cabo, I was told that the speakers are free for you to use with the iPod.

Here is part of an email that I received back from Adriana:

Dear Ms Stephanie,

Yes I know the date is coming very soon.

We can provide you with speakesr for the wedding reception, there is not extra charge.

Sorry I missed this before, there are several inputs on the back of the Altec Lansing....an S-video input, a 3.5 mm auxilary input & a composite video input. NOw, I'm no expert, but I'm going to guess that the 3.5 mm aux input would work for a mic. Hope this helps! FYI, the one we have is technically called the IM7, here's a link to the product site Altec Lansing Products: IM7

I'm also getting married at RIU Cabo. I hope Adriana does not charge me for my speakers either. I'm waiting to hear her reply.

...keeping my fingers crossed...

An idea to save on the ipod is to buy an older model. I bought the B&W screen ipod when the color ones came out on amazon. It was $200 instead of $400.

We also got a great deal on the bose sound dock 2 years ago. It is wonderful, I just feel bad that I don't use it all the time. I usually play music off my computer.

If you are doing the ipod option, start early setting up itunes. If your music isn't already in the format for itunes it can take a while to get it organized.

We actually bought computer speakers with a subwoofer from the City Club in Cabo. We thought that it would be loud enough but with the sounds of the waves and guests conversing it got lost. Dreams ended up sending their speaker. It was just one but it was perfect.

Opinion: have a professional speaker system!

I find it hard to believe they want to charge you $200/hr for speakers. Dreams Tulum is letting me use their speakers for $150 for the whole night. Something must be wrong with the info they gave you. I mean, you could have a DJ for way less than that, right?

Just got back from Dreams and I have to agree with Jenetta. We bought a portable ipod speaker system that sounded fine in our backyard and got loud enough, but when we hooked it up a Dreams (by Oceana, so quieter area) it only really got loud enough for good background music, not dancing music. Luckily Dreams was able to hook us up with a speaker (I think they got it from the Pirate show - at least a Pirate hooked it up) for $100 cash and we had it for about 4 hours. Unless your portable system really has some power I'd go with Jenetta's suggestion and rent speakers.
