Mom thinks TTD is a waste of money!!

Ok, so I ran the idea by my mom because it's something I really want to do. I have been on this forum for about 4-5 months now and I see all these amazing pictures and almost any bride who hasn't done a TTD session, regrets it! Personally I would skip all the other photos just to have TTD photos... but FI wouldn't have that.

Anyways, back to my mom, she told me that she thought it sounded stupid and like a waste of money. I asked her if I could borrow the money to put the deposit down.. it's not like she is paying for it! I will pay her back.. FI likes the idea, but I don't think he wants it as much as I do. This is the one most important thing to me for this wedding and no one cares.........

Thanks for listening..

Have you shown her any pictures? Maybe she would change her mind after seeing some. I know that I loved getting to spend the afternoon with my DH away from everyone, having our TTD pics done. It was a great way to see another part of Mexico also. I would definitely have regretted not doing them. We've got to convince her!

Aside from photographers, the couple participating or a previous DW groom/bride, I don't think many people understand the concept or beauty of a TTD session. Frankly, I had no idea what it was until I joined this forum, lol. But of course after seeing the amazing pictures and becoming a wedding photography obssessed whore blush2.gif ~ I am now determined to have my own fabulous TTD photoshoot!!! woot.gif

I too think you should show your mom some sample pictures, but even after that, she still may not understand. I think what makes the TTD session special is that it captures that exciting moment after all the wedding stress is gone and you and your new hubby can just enjoy the start of your lives together as husband and wife. Some of the best pics I've ever seen on this forum are in TTD sessions.

So girl, if it's what you want to do, and FI is on board...then I say GO FOR IT!! These pics are of the two of you to enjoy and cherish. Although no one else may understand the importance or meaning behind them, who gives a rat's ass, JUST DO IT!!!! msnwink.gif

Is there a way you could save up for it so you dont have to borrow any money from her? I didnt do one because fi thought it was stupid, keep in mind he never saw a TTD pic so i dont even think he knew what i meant. And i really regret not trying to convince him and not showing him pics. I love everyone's ttd pics. Show her pics and maybe she'll see what your talking about.

My mom felt the same way. However once we showed her some pictures we figured out her issue was more the name of the shoot rather than the actual idea. She hated the idea of ruining something but once she go over the name she is now okay with the concept. Our photographer is also calling it an anti bridal shoot which is helpful!

They use to call it a Wash the Dress session. That was when it was just going into the water. Now they changed it to TTD because people do crazy things like paintballing or riding dirt bikes etc. So, maybe you can reapproach it with pictures and keep calling it a wash the dress session lol.

Thanks Ladies!! I showed FI some pictures and told him how much I really wanted this and he agreed that the pictures are great! My mom on the other hand.. she is a different story. But, we have decided just to pay for it ourselves if it's something we really want. I'm now just trying to find the right photographer and fit it into our budget.

How long did you ladies need for a TTD session? Some people are offering 2-3 hours while others are offering 1 hour.

Trying to decide between:

2-3 hours of shooting

Aprox. 200 touched up photos on DVD, and a slideshow of the photos to your favorite music

Pick up & Drop off from resort

Price: $600 USD

Photomemories

1 hour photo session

25 color prints (5x7)

10 black and white (5x7)

CD with high resolution digital files

Round transportation to location in Cancún

Price: $480 USD

Cecilia Dumas

1 Hour of services

30 copies 4x6 colour, black & white and sepia

3 copies 6x8

Digital Negatives (CD Rom high resolution showing all the pictures taken)

Price: $550 USD

Octavio Montes

One hour - 35 pictures

Price: $250 USD

Two hours - 50 pictures

Price: $350 USD

All Packages Include:

1.- A CD with All digital images taken during the session, so that you can print more, digital images are normally the double of the total of prints.

2.-Images are digitally manipulated to eliminate undesired elements. They also could be converted to black and white or sephia, according to the consideration of the photographer and by request.

3.- Space reserved in Cancun Wedding Photographer Riviera Maya to share your photos with family and friends

Sorry for the long post.. I'm just so confused. Some photographers are cheaper then others and I have looked over some of their pictures, but it's so hard to chose!!
