Better to have a wedding in November or January?

I would pick January over November. I had a girlfriend that was going to get married in November in Cancun a few years ago and a hurricane completly wiped out the beach. She had to cancel her wedding 2 weeks before it move it to Vegas. I would risk rain in January over hurricane.

I was over there in November and the weather was perfect. I'm not sure about Jan, sorry. I am getting married in November on the same day and place we got engaged, so hopefully the weather will be just as beautiful as last year

IMO - go for Jan.. can usually get a good deal from canada, it's the pre busy season (april may) for weddings.. and it's a great way to break up the winter.
