The gown I'm eyeing!!!

Recommended Posts

Ladies this dress is the gown I'm dreaming of: Item Information Page | EDEN BRIDALS - Wedding Dresses, Bridesmaid Dresses, Bridal Dresses

Do you all think that it will be extremely expensive to get it hemmed. I'm only 5'2!! Did any of you have very detailed dresses at the hem.. what was your alteration costs?

What a gorgeous dress!

I am unsure of the cost to alter a dress with such beautiful detail at the bottom but I do know that they usually won't hem the dress at the bottom but would bring it up at the waist/bodice.

I would go to a bridal shop that offers alterations and ask them their opinion on how a dress such as this one would be fitted to your specifications.

That is a beautiful dress!

I agree with Jenny & you should go to a bridal shop & ask a seamstress about alterations. The shop where I bought my dress from charged a flat fee of about $250 for all alterations.

Just make sure that where you go is reputable as the last thing you need is an alterations disaster.

Oh, FYI...I'm 5'2 and when you go for your fittings, they usually require you to have the shoes that your wearing for the ceremony because the measurements & alterations are based on the height of your heel.

OOooooh, that's so gorgeous! Sorry, gimme a minute just to drool.....

OK. As for the alteration, I think Jenny is right. Ask around, see if you can't get some good recommendations from friends. I don't think the detail at the hem will be a problem, and shortening a dress is a very basic alteration so I wouldn't think it would be too terribly pricey or extensive.

Nice choice!

i think this is the dress that I want!! i haven't even tried it on yet.. There are two bridal shops in town that have this dress. I will definately be going to try it on in about a month or so... Gorgeous, right?!?

Like you all said, Ill try to take a picture into a seamstress and get some quotes if possible.

Thanks

This is a gorgeous dress! I am about 5'2'' as well...I would DEFINITELY take the picture to a seamstress first.

The first dress I bought, a solid lace gorgeous gorgeous dress with beautiful lace scalloped detail around the bottom and train, CANNOT be altered without cutting into the dress and hacking it up. I bought it from David's Bridal, and they didn't tell me this! When I took it to another store to have it looked at the other day, they told me they couldn't shorten it without pretty much ruining it. So, I'm also in the market for a dress!!
