My OOT Bags~ the big hits and the things that weren't used

Recommended Posts

Wow, I just finally finished reading through all 66 pages of this thread. I'm so excited to do our OOT bags. I've definitely nixed a few items off the list so thank you everyone for helping us save money (my FI is very greatful)

Here's what we're putting in ours...

  • Survival Kit (advil, tylenol, pepto, bandaids, aloe)
  • Gum
  • Mini hand sanitizers
  • Chap stick
  • Cards
  • bookmark (we have alot of readers in our group)
  • key chain (a little starfish to remind them of their trip)
  • postcards
  • puzzle book (sudoku, crossword, ect)
  • travel mug (no personalized)
  • shout stick or wipes
  • 1 or 2 snacks
  • tissue packet

I had so much difficulty finding canvas bags cheap so I ended up getting really nice paper ones from Hallmark. They are heavy duty so they survive a bit longer and the handles are really strong weaved fabric ribbon.

We're gonna do an info book (Thanks to khomac, she had a great link for an info book with almost all the info I needed on Punta Cana). I'll probably hand deliver them to people right after Christmas so they can really take advantage of all the info in them.

I just want to thank all pre and post wedding brides for their advice! I just decided to do OOT bags and was a little overwhelmed, but this thread has definitely helped me to narrow my list down!!!

Ottawabride - Good list, my list is almost exactly the same as yours! Except I won't be doing keychains or postcards.

there are a lot of cute jute bags out there that aren't too expensive. another bride posted about these for $2 each, just as an example:

Did you order your travel mugs online? I'm trying to keep to a very strict budget since the FI and I are the ones paying for the wedding. I was thinking of doing the travel mug with motrin and SPF chapstick. Not sure what else to add though.

Also, do you think it's worth it to just get the Motrin form a large discount store or is there a site online someone can refer that has discounted prices?

Can you tell I'm a bride on a budget!! :)

Like everyone else - LOVE this list! But I have another thing to add - is anyone doing mini-bags for kids? I've currently have 10 kids coming of varying ages and am wondering if I should try to do a little bag for them. And if so, do I do one for each kid?

My adult bags are for couples but kids are different. As of now I've got:

small water guns

heathy enjoyable snacks

constructable airplanes

beach balls

coloring books & crayons

I'd love more ideas and what to put them in. Was going to do bucket and shovel but may be to hard to get to DR. Open to suggestions!

We have 2 kids coming and I am doing "extra special" bags for them!

We have

- water guns

- various pool/beach/water toys

- pool rafts

- Old Maid and Crazy Eights ($1.50 at Michaels in Canada... $1 in the US)

- Deck of Cards

- Activity books

They are 9 and 11.... would love any other suggestions!!!
