Advice for staying cool in your dream dress

Hi, I have tried searching but can't find a thread although I'm sure there must be one there smewhere. I have brought a taffeta strapless ball gown type dress with big train, requires single hoop to go underneath. Just wondered if anyone had any helpful advice and tips on how to stay cool as was sweating in dress in the shop with all the lights, my wedding not til 5 so sould hopefully will be a bit cooler but would love any advice on how to stay cool and sweat free!!!

Honestly, I just grinned and bared it! I wanted that dress and no sweat was going to stop me!!

It turned out to be great until the reception. I think I was too nervous and excited to notice it any time before then. So during the reception I just lifted it up constantly and let a nice cool breeze in there!

And just make sure to drink LOTS of water.

I dont have any advice, I just know I'm going to have to deal with the sweat and make sure that my MH is watching for makeup flaws as the sweat starts pouring!

There is a fabulous product called Drysol if you are worried about sweatmarks on your dress! You have to start using it a couple weeks before your wedding day though. You can get it at any Shopper's Drugmart or Pharmacy. I always sweat when I'm nervous, so I'll be using this before the wedding!

Make sure you wear your hair up! It's amazing how much cooler I was after my hair was done!

I have heard that a crinoline actually helps, because the dress fabric ends up away from your skin...

I am also worried about this, but honestly my 'fix' for the sweating and heat exhaustion that will inevitably take place is that I am going to buy a 2nd dress for the reception (And use it again for my TTD session the following day) - one that is lighter and not quite so thick, hopefully.

 

I know the FI expects to see me in a larger, more formal gown, but I also am trying to be practical (and get a lovely second gown out of it, hee hee) and say ok, I'm not a fan of heat in the first place...Mexico in August is going to be hard!!
