I was wondering if it would be impolite to send out STD without a specific date and ask if they would be attending...it will be a DW in the Dominican in March 2010 and we would like a rough number of how many would be attending......we will be sending out formal invites at a later date. We thought this would give ppl time to either save money to go / or reserve the time off....Are we being rude? My older sister seems to think so. I would appreciate youe input!

I don't think it is rude and obviously a specific date would follow so as a guest it would be a nice general heads up and something to consider until a date is set and I could say for sure.

Plus, I think many of us can say that even when a date was set on the STD we had people who said they would go but ended up not being able to attend so setting a date far in advance won't make or break it. People who wouldn't miss it for the world will go whether it's March 1st or March 31st. There's nothing wrong with it in my opinion, just follow up as soon as you know the plans :)

Hi there...

We sent our STD's out with out a specific date. We knew the resort we were getting married at but because we were sending the STD's out so far in advance like a year there wasn’t prices yet so we couldn't book a date. We put the month we would be getting married and the place. We attached a little note saying why we don't have an exact because the prices aren't out yet but we wanted to let people know so they could plan and save. We also said passport required and formal invitation to follow.

I hope this help

Lisa

I am in the same postion too! I would love to send my STD's out soon but the resort we are planning to have it at has no packages yet! We picked a date April 15th 2010 but of course that is based on the availiablity on the resort. I have them all designed with the RSVP post cards too but just wating on the packages!
