To late for engagement party?

My FI and I were engaged April 08. Our wedding is Nov 09. We never did an engagment party. My friend was asking if we were going on have one. When are you suppose to have one? Is it too late to have one now?

IMO I think it is too late....I read a bridal etiquette book and it said to have it within 1-3 months...If you really want to have one go for it though! =)

Haha MaryS you are not alone! So weird, one of my FI's and I's friends was asking that same question to us earlier today! We got engaged July 2008 and our wedding is Jan 2010. I think we're going to do an engagement happy hour of sorts since its too late for a more formal one.

You could always do a send off party or something - are you doing an AHR? If not you could do something before you leave a little party with people who aren't going to be able to go.
