No Cupcakes For Me!!!!:(

Ok, so the resort replied and told me that they can't do cupcakes instead of a wedding cake! Not the answer that I was looking for! Now what do I do?! I'm kind of in a small panic mode because I was really looking forward to doing this with a Mardi Gras theme along with a dedication wish to my family and friends that survived Hurricane Katrina......

Since our wedding is so far from being traditional, I still don't want a "wedding cake". Any of you have any options for me? I thought about doing those wedding cake cookies with our date or something on them, but it would be tough to do in Mardi Gras colors! (now I just don't know how i'm going to tie in the New orleans theme and wish) I guess that I could just do the fleur de fleur on all of them or something. Sorry for the rambling, just stuck and don't know what I should do!!!!!!

Can you find a cake photo that has a Mardi Gras theme and send it to them to see if they could make it? I would think they could handle that---- a "mad hatter" style with lots of purple, green fondant... then you could put a bed of colored tissue paper under the cake and scatter some beads around the cake with some candles to soften the lighting....

What about hiring a baker? Does the resort have a policy against that?

 

I am exchanging emails regarding flowers with the WC that Anny is using... let me ask her if she can help with a baker...

I agree with Paula, can you hire an outside baker to do your cupcakes? If not what about the individual wedding cakes?

Thanks! I have thought about this as an option, but havn't had any luck finding a local baker in the Cancun area....
If any of you know of one, please let me know......that would be very helpful!

Why don't you get a king cake? The circle cake with small baby doll hidden in it that they have at Mardi Gras? My parents had a MG party years ago and got one made in NO and delivered to our house. You could probably do that and carry it on bc the are so flat.

I was thinking about a King's cake too. They are so delicious and would be in keeping with your theme.

I really love the idea for the king cakes! I'm just worried that once they ship from New Orleans, they won't make it to Mexico or they won't be fresh once it's time to serve them! We are flying into Cancun on Wednesday and our ceremony is not until Sunday!

I might have to ditch the idea all together...and just do my dedication to NO some other way. Maybe the wedding favor??
