After making a trip to Negril, Jamaica we decided against our original wedding plans and decided upon the Riviera Maya. We were planning on having it in september since it is most feasible for our guests and ourselves to travel at that time, but I'm very worried about the weather!

Do any of you have any experience or know anything about Mexico during Sept.? I know its during the "wet season", and of course...hurricane season...but I am willing to risk it with insurance etc. if it will still be okay there!?! Help! I'm starting from scratch!! and I need to get on the ball asap for my guests! Ahh

Usually weather in the Riviera Maya is fantastic. It can also be just as good, but a bit cooler, in the wet season.

With weather its always a big guess. All I can really tell you is that the chances of having rain are greater. The way I like to look at it. It might rain, but it will be a warm rain!

If weather does bring a damper on your day... the biggest difference you can make is keep a positive attitude and smile on your face. Your guests will love it if you do!

Best of luck

I got married in Cancun this September and did a lot of traveling back and forth to the RM. I was there for two weeks. The first week I was there it never rained and the sky and weather were amazing. Plus, that was the week I got married and I was sooo happy with the climate! Once the second week rolled around, which was late September by then, it rained at least an hour each day. Some days, it rained on and off all day, but that never stopped us from hanging out in the pool or anything.

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone! I decided to take my chances and after I talk to my TA book my date. Next I need to start working on STD! Did you guys make your own??! Also did you need to consult a TA before you put a deposit down for your wedding date?! I just read an email that she is still in FL until Weds!!

I have seen a lot of DW brides that made "airline ticket" STD's and passport invites. THey are so cute and the templete is available online. Do a search on here and you will find a lot.

If you dont mind me asking...I would like to know why you decided against Jamaica. I am trying to choose between Jamaica and Mexico myself. It looks as if Mexico will be cheaper for my guest which I am happy about. I want my guest to pay around $1000 for an AI 4 night trip including airfare.

Thanks for sharing....

Jamaica was beautiful! The people on the resort were so friendly and easy to get along with. The only thing was Mexico is a little bit cheaper like you said. The locals were a little strong in Jamaica too, they would approach you to buy drugs etc, I just didn't want to put our families in that kind of environment. That and we can get a non-stop flight to Mexico...so there were a few factors. Either way, we really did enjoy Jamaica, but with others in mind, Mexico was just our best option (Cost/convenience etc). Hope that helps!

We were just outside of Playa del Carmen in the begining of October and it rained every day that we were there but it wasn't that big of a deal. It'd rain only for a short time before it cleared up again and it never got cold. We used that time for a break from the sun and we still enjoyed ourselves despite the few storms we had. We found it was worse at night when we'd be going for dinner and we'd get the thunder.

According to our rep though the closer you are to Cancun the better the weather. When we had rain we'd look over to where Cancun was and yup there would be blue skies. I think the risk of rain shouldn't stop you from having your wedding there in Sept.
