I think if you are set on that place, you should definitely contact them. Some places and vendors book more than a year ahead. This will ensure they'll be available for your wedding and you won't have to choose the dates they provide.

I would say that it is never too early to start planning! I got engaged almost 2 years before we were going to get married, but I didn't start planning until about a year out (I didn't want to plan everything, then have to sit around counting down the days). I have about 15 days to go until the wedding (10 days until we leave), and I am scrambling on the small details. I also have a planner, so I would start asap!

Congrats! Just wondering if you ended up contacting them right away? We've been engaged since March of this year and are just now trying to set the date in stone!! We have our resort/location picked, but my dream date (would have been our 10 year anniversary!!! We started dating when I was 15!) in falll 2010 was already booked!! So, I'd say pick date and place ASAP! All the details later--I agree with the above py oster, you don't want everything done and then sit around and wait (at least that's what we're doing as well), and enjoy it! Don't have to feel stressed out if you stretch everything out and do a little here and a little there!
