???OOT Bag Price???

Recommended Posts

I haven't heard of anyone doing it, but you should try it on one and see if it works.

We decided not to do too much $1 stuff from target cause people don't use it. We like the first aid kits cause most people wont think of bringing such a thing, but a small lotion or shampoo they will probably remember, and if they didn't then they are going to be there for 2 weeks, they are going to need more than a small bottle so they will have to buy some anyway.

Our OOT bags have cost about $10 - $11 per bag so far and we are making 15 - 20 bags. They include:

*Hibiscus Canvas totes ($1)

*Sudoku/word search puzzle books ($1)

*Ladies' stylish white t-shirts ($1 each (regular $ 10)- Boxing day sale!)

*Tropical scented body butter, body wash and body lotion trios in mango, coconut, tangerine, melon and pomegranate ($1.27 - Walmart leftovers from Christmas) So worth it!

* Christian Daily Devotional Reading books ( .25 cents)

* Manicure or pedicure sets ($1)

* Tissue packets (8 for $1)

* Flip Flops (2 pairs per bag) (50 cents each at JoAnne Fabrics end-of-summer sale)

* Hand Sanitizer (.33 cents)

* Playing cards ($1)

*Glade mini-air Fresheners ($1)

* Spanish for Dummies ($1)

* Beach balls (.25 cents)

To be added closer to the date:

*Gum (.25 cents)

*Candy ($1) box

And that should do it...but I keep wanting to add things! They don't look cheap at all, but me knowing that they are inexpensive makes me want to keep adding more!

We didn't ask for sizes, we just guestimated...smalls and extra-smalls for the kids, mediums and larges for ladies and for the men, we bought larges and extra-larges.With flip-flops I find that if they are a little too big or small it really doesn't matter. As our guests will be bringing their own, they will probably just wear ours in the shower or to the beach.

It is looking like we are spending between $20-$25 per bag, wanting to keep it at $20. Still working on buying and finding things. We are putting together 50 bags. We currently have 28 rooms booked but need 36 bags, due to singles sharing some rooms. We are still expecting some last minute people in addition and were going to give a few to close family/friends bags that can't make it.

I started working with a small woman owned company that I found at our Bridal Extravaganza last week and it is proving to be pretty good prices. They are a Bridal/Advertising Supplier (Nuptial Necessities - Your one-stop wedding shop) . Do to several showers we are also having, we had 200 koozies personiled and made. They are ending up being $1.00 a koozie. I am also getting waterproof good-sized bags that will have our full color logo printed on them for what I considered really cheap (<$4 each). She is also checking on prices for our lip balm, and sewing, first aid, and medicinal kit prices. I haven't received the prices yet.

I just posted on another string that we found 2 lots of 24 Webster Pocket English/Spanish books on EBay for cheap (.42 each with shipping).

The other things we are putting into the bags are playing cards, puzzle books, either beach ball or floaties, sunscreen, fans (OT), individual powder drink mixes for water, personalized mints (OT), and maybe a few other things if we can fit it in our budgets.

It is hard to not go overboard.

oh boy! I was thinking of cutting the OTT bags all together from my wedding?! shame on me?! It just seems like a big expense and I would imagine my guests would bring the majority of the stuff themselves... I think that I could spend the money somewhere else like on entertainment or the welcome dinner. Are they just a nice gesture or is this something that everyone does and people would be expecting?! Ok dont judge, I feel bad and selfish now but I have to make some cuts somewhere...

It's not selfish...if your guests didn't know they were getting them in the first place, then it's not hurting anything. If you can't afford it you can't afford it. What if you were to just create one for the important people....mom/dad/sister/brother. just a thought! Good luck!

I think it is common but probably not expected. Also, as you can see if you want to do just a little, they can be pretty reasonable. I recently heard from other brides and friends that the little extras can be really appreciated. For example, Sunscreen costs $26.00 in Mexico (a friend had to buy some in December because she forgot). I had heard from brides the Suncreen, the medicines, and little things like sewing kits with safety pins can sometimes be lifesavers over there and very appreciated when they find out how much you saved them if they had to buy something there.
