I have some guests still procrastinating, but the most important people are already booked and ready to go. I don't know why people wait. They think they can get cheaper deals, but actually, the closer you get to the departure, the more expensive it is. I would just call your guests one last time and stress the importance of booking soon.

I told my friends to book on cheapcaribbean because it was so much cheaper than my travel agent-they were able to book on there. Maybe you could suggest websites to them-also your resort is having serious sales because it is new!

For personal travel we have done it ourselves very successfully, specially lately (in the last 6 months or so). That is, wait until the last moment to book lower fares. I guess it is the economy and the airlines trying to attract travelers even at rock-bottom prices instead of going banckrupt.

 

But, being seasoned travelers we do understand that we are running the risk of not finding the "deal" and having to pay the premium.

 

I guess as far as your guests understand the risk and the consequences and are willing to pay for them instead of just not showing up at your wedding then it is OK.

Thank you so much for all your posts!! I feel a bit better that it's not just me with last minute bargain hunters! I'm kinda the same way when travelling with a small group, but I can't believe how many of our friends are waiting to roll the dice. With 32 confirmed guests already...not sure I really want the number to jump up too much! =)
