In your case, I'd say don't mix business with pleasure, primarily because your FI doesn't care for your friend. It sounds like there will likely be tension, and like all the other members have said -- that will show in your pictures. Not a good thing to have especially during such an important and beautiful occassion wink.gif

It does sounds like since she just bought the expensive equipment, she's getting started, and I agree with Tlseege, pricey cameras does not a good photographer make. If she wants to do this as a resume builder then by all means you should let her...but NOT as your primary photographer. If your hired photographer doesn't mind, why not have her there taking some shots on her own? She may be able to capture some moments your primary photographer does not. And since she's a friend, she'll probably be around you guys a lot, and how great to have someone clicking away at the fun candid moments during your vacay. rolleyes.gif

The more photos the better :) But most importantly, you wanna have a great photog you know you can count on because afterall, the day will pass in a heartbeat and you wanna make sure you've got beautiful photos to help preserve those memories! humble.gif

I totally agree with Mariesam.

I have heard and seen way too many stories of friendships stressed out because a friend is asked to take the wedding pictures. And the sadest part is that at the end in most cases it leads to couples not having the photos they envisioned having of their wedding date.

Most of us don't realize the responsibility the photographer carries to capture the best moments and emotions of your wedding. If you want beautiful pics, then it takes a trained professional to work all the time at your wedding. A burden some of us wouldn't like to put on any of our friends.

Almost everywhere you go you will find photographers on the whole spectrum of prices (literally from $100 to $20,000). All you got to do is define your budget for photography and then start looking for photographers that fall within your range.

If you don't find anybody that you like in that price range then it will tell you that you will have to raise your range/budget to get the results you want for your wedding.

As a photographer I know many resources to find photographers all over the world in all the price ranges.

If you are interested just PM me and I will provide you with links that will help you in your search.
