I think it's your choice and your FH should be able to get over it if you'd like to keep your last name.

As an illustrator, my name is my brand so I'll be keeping my last name, I don't really want to have to start over! Anyways, FI is from Cuba and in his culture, the women don't take on their husbands names so it works out. Everyone there gets two last names, the father's and then the mother's in that order. So following that, our kids would be first name - husband's first last name, my last name. Not sure if we'll follow that since my asian name sounds kind of stupid tacked onto his cuban one, so they'll probably just take his. :D

I've always known i would change my last name when I got married.  I find it an honor to take my husband's name.  I'm definately going to change it, but I recently did have a private cry over this issue...  Giving up my last name almost feel like giving up a part of who i am.  My FI just thinks I'm emotional (which i definately am), but it is kinda sad in a way.  I really don't know exactly how to explain it, but it does make me a lil sad to know I won't be Sarah Cox anymore :)

I've always known that I was going to change my name. It actually excites me! :)

Besides, people already have trouble trying to pronounce and spell my french Canadian name, so why not change it to a hard to spell and pronounce Polish one! :)

I'm changing my name, but I'm adding my maiden name as a second middle name. So I don't need to hyphenate, I still have my family name, and I have my new husband's name, too. I think that's a good comprimise, but, I totally think it's normally weak to be expected to change your name. I'd rather he took my name, if that were the case--mine is more original!!

I can't wait to change my name!  When I was married 10 years ago, I changed my middle name to my maiden name.  Then when I got divorced, I was in a bit of a bind.  Ha!  So yes, I can't wait to change my name.

I am definitely changing my name. Not only have I always hated my last name (it's very long) but I like my FI's last name. I have never really gotten along with my stepdad (whose last name I have) so I am excited to change it. Also, I am a teacher, and will be very excited to have a name students can remember!! I have absolutely no issue with brides keeping their own names. It's definitely a personal choice!!
