Are you having a bridal shower?

I to didn't want a traditional one as we my FI and I have been living together for 6 years already and don't need gifts, we buy everything we need ourselves! Also we said instead of gifts that if they still wanted to do something for us then we would put a donation to a chairity like WWF or stopping Animal Cruelty or shelters or something like that or Saving the Enviroment... plus we thought their gift to us was making it to our destination wedding in the first place! But I think my sister still wants to throw me a party... not sure yet of the plans for it cause we don't want gifts... any non traditional ideas you guys have that you could pass onto me

Me and FI had an "engagement party" instead of a shower... Jack and Jill in the town hall. It was a nice time and a great chance for everyone to meet each other and mingle before the event. We registered but didn't put the info w/on the invite. I figured if people wanted to get us something they could by looking it up on our site if not that was fine too. I would say we got gifts from 65% of the people who came. Do what makes you happy not other people, it's your day you do it once. If it was their day they wouldn't be thinking about you or your opinion.
