Wedding dress and salt water??

Recommended Posts

Of course we are getting married on the beach, and I have a very stong feeling I am going to end up in the water at some point.. (probably my photographer's idea) The beach has these huge rocks that we've always jumped off of into the water, and I think it would be so cool to have a photo jumping off the rock in my dress....

problem is we are having a reception 2 weeks after we get home and I am planning on wearing my dress again. So, How would a lace dress (Demetrios) do in salt water? Would dry cleaning when I get home help? I'm afraid to ruin in for the party.

What is your dress made of?

i got in the ocean with my dress - which was made of silk. i rinsed the salt water out, and hung it to dry after our TTD session. When we got home I tried on my dress again. It's about 3 inches shorter than it was on the day of the wedding/TTD session. And it definitely isn't as nice looking as it was before it got wet.

So if your dress is silk, I wouldn't recommend getting it wet if you want to wear it to your reception back home.

My dress got really filty at the bottom from being wet at the bottom and dragging on sand. I have heard that will come out tho. But if you want to jump all the way in, it may be worse. Or not, because some girls said that after the wedding the dress was filthy and the water scenes for their TTD powerwashed it.
