Am I weird or something?

I'd say I am middle of the road, we are trying to stay within our budget. My dress is not overly fancy, just a simple bridesmaid dress in ivory. Opted to only have a MOH and BM instead of a full wedding party. We did splurge on the photo's because alot of our family cannot come and we want great photos to help capture our day. We also have decided to do OOT (about $25pp) to say thank you to those few who are making the trip with us. Other than that we aren't doing favours, ceremony decorations, etc. I have a FMIL that wants me to get the horse and carriage but not sure if I even want the fuss. So you are by no means weird, you are having your wedding the way you want. Every bride and groom should get married the way they want. I think your way you are probably saving yourself so many headaches.

EXACTLY!!! I had a big huge wedding here already when I was much too young, and it was a really stressful, unpleasant experience. Mind you, the whole mariage was a disaster from the start, so that may have coloured my view of it, but still... My fiancé and I felt a DW would help minimize stress and the amount of work necessary to prepare for it, while allowing us more time to enjoy each other and our engagement :-)

I'm not going to be making/ordering centre-pieces, additional decors for the wedding venue, hiring outside of resort vendors, or even buying shoes for that matter... Reading this forum and seeing all the work some brides are putting into their wedding is making me wonder if I'm not stressed out/organized enough. What is important to me is that I will be marrying the most amazing man in the world. I really couldn't care less if my nails aren't perfect, my hair isn't top-model comparable or that I will be bare-foot in a relatively "cheap" wedding dress. Does that make me weird? Should I ramp it up a level and strive to be the perfect bride?
Nopers you are not. I went fairly simple as well. I just happy to be on the beach and with family and friends :)
It's your wedding, you can make it as complicated or simple as you want.
Most important, enjoy!!

Amen ladies...amen! The only thing we splurged on was embroidered towels that have our names and wedding date for favors. I have some espresso coloured marabou feathers that I may or may not do something with for some kind of centerpiece.

I believe in keeping it simple!

I was the same way with my wedding...it was my husband who did all the stressing out! I'll admit I went over my dress budget more than I thought I would, but that was about it. I did my own nails (the day of the wedding, while wearing the dress..my bridesmaid nearly had a fit, worrying that I would get it on the dress), my maid of honour and her mom did my hair, I used shoes that I had bought two summers before, had no extra decorations aside from the chairs for my guests (who needs adornment when the ocean is so pretty), and used a cd player for music (the planner suggested a violinist or a harpist, but it was not for me).

It was the most relaxing experience of my life (once the vows were said and I made it down the aisle without tripping and falling on my face), and I would do it again in a heart beat exactly the same way.

All the best to you!
