Ditto.. the same for me! I'm between $250-300 bc i'm basing it on 2 ppl attending the wedding & wedding in NY usually are over $100pp. If its a close family member or friend, then we might go up to $400 or so. This is of course basing it on not being a part of the bridal party bc then there are so many other expenses as well. for a bridal shower gift, i usually spend between $50-75 & that's depending on the relationship as well.. apparently, in the west coast, people dont even usually give $$.. they give gifts off the registry for both bridal shower & wedding.. at least that's what i ahve heard from people..

Before I was with Matt and was going to weddings alone, I tried to give $150. Now that I go with Matt (depending on the friendship to the bride and groom) we usually give $250. If it's a better friend of his $300, but if it's my better friend, I try to give $500. I just feel that my friends have been there for me thru the years and they are usually generous when they can. So if I can do the same, I do. Matt's friends aren't that generous, so he doesn't go crazy on them.

Now that we are married, we will be giving people the same that they gave us. Too bad mostly all of my friends were married years ago! Now his friends are starting to get engaged and married, so we'll be as generous to them as they were to us. For the most party anyway.

Oh, and I generally give a gift for showers as well. I try to stay around $50, but will go as high as $70 for something that I really like. Of course, if I am in the wedding that amount is much higher since we usually purchase a larger gift from the bridal party.
