We are doing a symbolic ceremony at the Ellegance in Feb,..Does anyone know how the salon is with doing make up? I heard if you bring a photo for your hairtsyle, they are great at re-creating it, not sure about the make up though! I'm not confortable doing on my own or having any of our friends/family doing it.

Also..does anyone know if you have to pre book for these services, or just arrange once you are on-site?

From what I have heard, you should pre-book.  I have also heard that they are great at the hair (as long as you bring a photo), but the makeup is quite heavy and cakey.

I am going to go to a makeup counter (like MAC or something) and have them show me how to do it, so I can re-create it on wedding day, I am a little nervous about that, but I don't want to end up looking like a clown either.

I did the same with SEARS Clinique.  LOVED IT.  I brought my MOH and mom so that they could help me.  It's really not hard at all.  My only problem is eye shadow.  The $25 brush is expensive, but makes all the difference in the world.

My concern with getting my hair done at the salon is getting to and from the salon.  It's located far from the elegance club (from what i can see on the resort map).  I don't want to make the trek all the way across the resort and then all the way back to finish getting ready. I'm worried about the heat and humidity (don't want to be all sweaty!)  So i'm stuck too.  Do i risk doing it myself or just go on the journey of having them do it?  I'm having my future sister-in-law do my make-up, so I don't have to go for that.

@islandbride8 - I had my hair done at the spa a few weeks ago for my wedding (Colonial). They put so much hairspray on it that you don't have much to worry about. I was around the resort for the rest of the day (wedding and pics) and my hair looked great. I found the faster I walked, the more I sweated. If I kept my pace medium - slow, I didn't sweat or get over heated.

I went to the MAC counter and had them do a practice makeover. The consultant wrote down all of the steps (with what color etc) and also had a picture that she applied the makeup to. It was easy to follow. I am glad I did my own as you never know if you will like your makeup when you have it done at a salon.

bamcandr- All the papers I have that reference La Barcaza for the reception have *info available upon request.  They do list the information for other private receptions, so I would only assume this is more $$$.  La Barcaza is in the Elegance Club. IDK if you're planning to have any children attending, but this is 18+ only.
