Hey Christinamaria,

Just wondering if you guys are getting married with the judge or if you are just going to have a symbolic ceremony? If you are getting married by the judge, perhaps that could be why they won't let you change anything?

I think if you are married by the judge it is a much more formal, "by-the-book" ceremony.

 

My fiance and I are also hoping to be able to write our own vows/ceremony so we are planning to do all the legal stuff in Canada before we leave and will have a "symbolic" ceremony in the Dominican. As far as we are concerned our "real" wedding will be the one in the Dominican. This way, instead of the judge, one of the WC is the "officiant", and I believe the ceremony is much more flexible.

 

I haven't verified this yet, but from what I have gathered about what others have said, this is how I have come to understand it...

 

Does anyone else have any insight on this topic?!

Yeah I thought about that too but I would really feel taht we were married and I want to say my i do once infront of the judge the first time... oh well I may just add a sand ceremony to be more personal........ thanks

Has anyone gotten the wedding package and extras prices for 2010 yet? From what I have been told by my travel agent/coordinator, the prices were supposed to come out sometime around January 15 and she still hasn't heard back from the Majestic yet.

I think SunCherries is right if you are getting legally married by the judge they don't let you change anything about the ceremony but if it's just a Renewal of Vows you can write your own vows.

I would try contacting the Majestic myself to see if the prices are out yet I was able to get prices last Jan for this Nov.

Hi everyone! We think (fingers crossed) that we will be getting married at the Majestic Elegance at the end of November/start of December 2009!! I'm so excited to have FINALLY picked a hotel (almost had a breakdown in the process - who knew it would be so hard?!) and can't wait to do all the other "fun" stuff now. I was wondering if anyone knows whether the resort photographer at the ME (probably same as Colonial I would imagine) is any good and/or if there are examples of his/her work anywhere. I have contacted Majestic about this, but thought I would give the forum a try as well. I am impatient!

We are looking to book our wedding at the MJ and was wondering if anyone knows if they charge extra for chair covers and other decorations. I have not seen anything to indicate they do but was just wondering.

Thanks Caribe, that's great. I received the email address of the photographer from ME from Massiel, and emailed about a week and a half ago, but still haven't heard back. I really want to find a great photographer since my fiance and I are not the most photogenic of people to begin with I need all the help I can get. Honestly, we are normal looking people that turn into trolls when you put us in front of a camera. OR, without fail, if I like the pic of me, my fiance will have his eyes half shut and vice versa. *sigh* I am sort of hoping for a wedding day miracle where we will both just take beautiful photos.....yep, and fairies will probably fly around my head and bunnies will follow me down the aisle too.....
