I am wondering if anyone is on or has tried the south beach diet. I just ordered the book off amazon and was hoping someone would be able to give me their views, opinions and advice regarding this diet. I hate thinking about dieting because i love food and cooking. I never had to worry about my weight untill recently. I am just getting bigger by the minute. I know i need to start hitting up the gym again, but i also want a healthy yet tastey diet. Any help?

I've done the South Beach diet. I was able to lose 20 pounds in roughly 3 months. Did great as long as I stuck to it. Like any diet as soon as you go back to your old ways, the weight seems to sneak back. hissyfit.gifhissyfit.gifYou're allowed to eat a lot of really good food...things you could fix yourself...which is what I liked about it. I was relatively easy to do. Just stick to it and you'll do great! Good luck!

I've done SB before and I'm actually going to start it again on Friday!! The last time I tried it, I lost 12 lbs in the first 2 weeks. I didn't really have time to prepare many of the recipes but the ones I tried were good. I pretty much did my own thing bu just having salads or a protein with veggies for dinner, etc....After not eating carbs for about 3-4 days, it got much easier and I actually lost the cravings for carbs (and I have a major sweet tooth). The only downfall (IMO) is once you fall off the wagon and have some carbs, its almost insatiable...I couldn't stop eating carbs (the bad carbs) and I gained almost double of what I lost. So its very important that after Phase 1, one gets used to eating the good carbs and continue with the program for the long haul (a lifestyle change) and not just temporary (this is what I plan to do, once again!).
