Wow, that is a great quote PrincessJ!!!! I really like that price, and I know my guests would too. Thank you for your advice. Youâ€re right though, itâ€s going to be tough waiting it out. Iâ€m nervous that all the seats on the plane and rooms will be booked. We were told that April and May are the busiest times for destinations weddings by our TA and Nicole at Iberostar. Iâ€m still waiting for a few more quotes from other TA's. We were told to book before October 31 to get the early bird discount for $170, but your deal through Toronto seems worth waiting for. Hmmm. Itâ€s great your agent adjusted your price when the prices dropped.

I'm currently working with DestinationWeddings.com and they will match any lower rate that you find online. I'm planning on having my wedding at the Grand in Januray 2012. Each person from my group has to put down a $100 deposit for the rooms. If we find a better rate through a travel webistes (obitz, expedia) TA will rebook and match the cheaper rate. With destinationweddings.com you get your own personal website that your TA will update with all of your travel information.

I've only been working with her for the past 2 months but she has been extremly helpful with doing research on hotels for me in Jamacia. I'm going to visit the resort on 11/11 with my fiance to make sure that we 100% love it. She was able to get us resembersed for our nights we booked in November if we end up booking our wedding there (3 free nights).

I would highly recommend going through destinationweddings.com let me know if you have any questions.

Hello ladies,

We leave 2 weeks today and yesterday my fiance's uncle passed away unexpectedly. Him and all of his family were booked to come down to the wedding. His family still might come, but obviously he won't be joining us, except for in spirit. I wanted to do something at either the ceremony or the reception to remember and honor him. I was thinking of lighting a candle in his honor during the ceremony. Anyone have any suggestions? My FI is totally a mess over the whole thing as he was quite close to his uncle - it was his godfather and namesake.

Thanks!

I was just at a wedding where they had a memorial to a cousin, who was to be a groomsman.  They had a photo on a pedestal with a candle.  The groom (cousin of the departed) and the cousin's widow joined together and lit a candle.  It was touching.  If you go this route, you may need a hurricane or something to protect the candle from the wind.

Sorry to hear about your extended family's loss.

I can't believe its getting so close.  FI and I are working on music for our guests mp3 players tonight before I leave for CA on Monday for a week long conference (any other time a great experience, just poor timing this time for me).  15 days til our wedding!!!

Hi Julie

Is that price quote for Rose Hall Beach? (or the Suites or Grand?)

I am getting married at Rose Hall Beach January 2011 and I noticed the quotes from travel agents a few months back were quite high as well ($~1800) - with people having to book by September 2010 (which I thought was too early to pressure people into booking).

We decided to just have people book on their own.

We booked a while ago and got a good deal for oceanview suite around $1700 - regular rooms are now available for between $1450-1650 from Toronto.

Once we booked we sent out a letter to the guests telling them which flight we were on - but we left it open so people could book a different flight time or day if they wanted.

I just found that the travel agent had too many stipulations (booking by september, us having to put down a deposit for estimated # of people and possibly losing money if that many people did not book).

Not sure how many people you have going but we have about 30 booked at this point and it has worked out well to just let people use their own resources to book.

Hey DeAngelis2be, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal, great that they are willing match a lower rate. Thank you for your recommendation.

So sorry to hear about your loss Jamaica Jenn. That is definitely difficult to deal with. I lost my father this last January, and I was thinking about doing something to honor him as well. I think the idea of lighting a candle next to his picture sounds like a good idea. It may need to be in a deep candle holder with siding to block the wind. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Hey BrieP, my wedding will be at the Suites resort next May. $1700 sounds like a good price. Weâ€ll have to evaluate how many people want in on the group rate, and how many guests will be booking on their own. I am a bit nervous about the non refundable down payment as well. As soon as I get a decent quote Iâ€ll let my guests know and get a head count of who wants to be included in the deal.

Julie

I agree with everyone else in waiting to book. The best time I think is about 6 months before. We booked about 5.5 months before leaving and my guests are paying $1304 w/tax & air for the Beach hotel. We fly from Toronto with West Jet. West Jet has flights everyday from Toronto - Montego bay, so don't worry about planes selling out :)
