Hello Tina

I have also heard good things about Tai Flora but they are expensive. I am getting a quote from Godfrey Guy. I took Lisa's advice and bought my own votives because they are expensive there. I found them at Amazon. I'll keep you posted about Godfrey.

I haven't officially hired him yet- but I am pretty close. I am likely choosing an outside DJ as the one at the resorts haven't had the best reviews (they just play the playlist). Likely not a huge deal but I would love to have all my guests on the dance floor so I will pay a bit more for him!

Hello my ladies!  I wanted to ask you guys why you decided against the resort DJ?  I thought I was done with everything until you guys hired outside DJs.  Now I am super concerned because I really want to have a great reception so of course music is super important! Let me know what's going on!

Thanks,

Nikki

I want to have a beach party and fire dancers.  I also want to have a welcome party and possibly a bonfire after the rehearsal dinner.  Not sure if I'm going overboard

Hey Tina,

I'm not having a beach party, just doing the rehearsal dinner for the bridal party and were taking all my guests on an outing. Probebly ziplining! Luckily I have a pretty adventurous group - even my 76 year old Grandmother just finished 'adventure camp' in Vancouver where she did trapeze, rock climbing, etc. Shes Awesome.

I thought about a beach party or incorporating a bonfire at the reception, but I don't think we'd have time for it anyways. Music and excessive noise has to be shut-down on the beach by 11pm as per Jamaica by-laws.

It was awhile ago that I was looking at the resort music situation - but I seem to remember that most of the brides did the Ipod thing, which I didn't want to do. I think one bride used the DJ and was not happy at all - but that might have been another resort. lol.

Hey everyone!

I have heard that the resorts DJ is not all that based on a bride that got married there late last year so thats my reason, for florist i am speaking with Natalie and she seems very reasonable and offers a great price does a fabulous job she was the one i got this set up photo from. Also very nice girl to work with she has been doing weddings for years she tells you all the scoop. I like the idea of the trip for the guest i met a driver while in Jamaica very nice clean bus christian, honest, clean looking person and he was giving us super deals. I arrangrd for him to pick up my friends at the airport and we will be doing like a day out together and he gives everyone a bottle of rum after as a thank you gift, i think thats cool he gets any size bus we want. I told Natalie about him she used him and said he is great she is using him for any transfers she is doing.Guys i am also doing  jamaican welcome gifts i will post a photo. Ooops i nearly forgot to share details with you for the for the florist you can email Natalie at [email protected] and for welcome gifts [email protected]  the drivers name is Jermain his number is 876-783-2975.

Guys with the flowers compare prices give Natalie a call and see what you think here are some gift ides she sent me....you pay her the jamaican as is cost she only takes a source fee to find them and you pay the taxi that drops them off. A small bottle of appleton that people have quoted me US$8 for the actual price is jamaican $300 which is about $3.60 and her source fee is .50cents on each item taxi charges to rose hall is about $10. When i calculated everything for my 50 or more guest i am saving over US$200. This is why i encourage anyone to compare prices and when you meet the right person you will know good price good personality ...seal the deal..

Nikki,

My FI and family love to dance so having a reputable DJ for me is a big deal.  I've also given a great deal of thought when it comes to my ceremony songs and I honestly do not want to have to stress about it.  I want to be able to just give the DJ my list and an idea of what kind of music we like and trust that he will do the rest.  The reviews on here regarding the resort DJ are really not the greatest and not ones that I am comfortable bypassing.  I thought of an IPod but then didn't think it would be fair to have someone that spent so much money to be a part of our special day mandate an ipod all day.  Upon reading Breeze's comment I decided this would suit us and our day.

Breeze,

I've thought of taking everyone to Rick's Cafe in Negril for the rehearsal dinner but couldn't figure out for the life of me how I would get everyone there lol.  Definitely going to give it some more thought.

So far I have the resort, TA taking care of all of the arrangements, save the dates are done and in the mail this coming Thursday, the photographer, the dj, music and my dress.  I guess most of my "big" stuff is taken care of with the exception of Jewelry.  Now just to find the best deal on invites (passports & boarding passes), OOT bags, bridal attire, weekend itinerary, decor, and a charity to donate to in Jamaica instead of giving out favors.

Hope everyone's planning is going well cheers.gif

Hi Asheeki, Thanks so much for that driver's information - getting to the ziplining was another concern I hadn't solved yet so I will definitely be giving him a call. Thanks!

Hi Tina, We will do our rehersal dinner at one of the resort restaurants - nothing special really! My guests seem to want to have 'their own time' for their vacation, so I'm not planning much for them except the one outing. I do plan on giving them all information on different outings though, and better pricing/contacts than I'm sure the resort has. It will be in my welcome brochure.

sounds like you have definetly figured out most of the big stuff! Especially for a wedding in May! I leave in less than 3 months and I still have these big things to do:

1) finish the invites (STDs went out a long time ago)

2) pick out GM clothes

3) BD shoot (do it? dont do it?)

4) Eshoot! (date has been re-scheduled 3 times cuz of weather - arg!)

6) create my honeymoon registry

7) order wedding bands! (I need to give them my Ering so they fit together and I need to wait till after the Eshoot to do it! Arg!!)

8) book group excursion

plus about a million other little things. Get as much done as possible in the beginning ladies. Its NEVER to early.
