Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

Two big questions:

1)  Does anyone have a daily activity list for IRHS and IRHB??  I would like to start formulating our week schedule based off of the activities they have going on at the resorts, but I don't want to bug the WCs.  If no one has one, I will email the resort when it gets closer.

2)  Cost question:  Do we pay the cost of the wedding and the reception dinner when we get to the resort?  And, is that put on credit card?  Also, how about the flowers (Tai Flora) and musicians.  Do they all take credit card or cash and when do we pay them?   I am just wondering what to plan for.  I even ordered a no foreign transaction fee card for all of these expenses!  Again, if no one knows this answer, I will ask the WC as it gets closer.

Sorry for all the questions on a Saturday morning!   Hope everyone is having a great time planning!!

hey Court, i believe at IRHB they prefer payment for the wedding package and extras by credit card, no sure exactly when, likely anytime after the wedding. i also read that payment for musicians is in cash to the WC before hand. i would imagine you pay the florist directly. not sure if any of this has changed since i got the info but thought i would pass it along! i am not sure of activities other that there is (unless this change too) a beach party on thursday nights. hope that helps a bit :)

Hi Court,

Daily activity list? No idea. I would let it just fall into place when you get there. Planning too many activities doesn't make it fun anymore and can burn one out. I read on Oyster.com that IRHB sells day passes to cruise ship travellers and the resort fills up with these people which makes it noisier and more crowded than usual and also hard to get drinks, etc. If concerned you should read up about it on Oyster's IRHB review. Supposedly the Suites & Grand are not affected by this. Personally, I would find out what day of the week this is and plan an excursion to get away from that commotion.

From what I read you pay the wedding costs the day before your wedding. It is in the paperwork somewhere although I understand it is hard to keep on top of everything. I believe it goes on your credit card. Tai Flora charges you a 4% commission if you use your credit card. I heard one bride write in her review that she wanted to pay Tai Flora in cash to save the 4% but was refused. I think the other way they except payment if you are paying them from home is by wire transfer. I paid in full to get rid of the expense and bit the bullet and paid by CC. I read that you pay the musicians in cash on the day of their performance. Don't forget tipping!! I found a few different articles for destination weddings stating who you should and should not tip and they are not all consistent which is frustrating. Such as: tip the minister?

1) If you're using a nondenominational officiant, no tip is required because they will charge you for their time.

Protocol: Expected (depending on officiant) The $tandard: Donate $500+ to the church or synagogue, or, for a nondenominational officiant, an optional tip of $50 - $100

2)  To tip them is to trivialize their profession and extremely bad etiquette. Generally you pay your fee and that's it. If you wish to make a financial contribution to the church, you can do that separately.  $100-$200

... and there were a few more articles going back on forth on this. I asked the WC and was told you may tip if you wish. Also, Oyster.com states that they found IRHS staff seemed to pressure the guests to tip.

I'm getting married one month from now at IRHS and will definately put up a review when I get back.

I just talked to the WC at the Beach and she said I can't have a private reception because we only have 35 people and we need a minimum of 40 people.  I thought we only needed 30 people?  But anyway, if we can't have a private reception, we're going to have the dinner at Uncle Tony's and then we wanted to either rent the terrace or have a bonfire, did anyone else do this?  And are you allowed to have a DJ?

I also wanted a private reception but we only have 35 people as well. We are planning on doing the semi private dinner and then bonfire. The WC said we can have the DJ for the bonfire.

Thank you all for your help.

With regard to the daily activities list, it was more so that I could plan welcome drinks and then I believe go to the bonfire at the beach resort on Thursday, but I wanted to check to make sure this was right.  I also thought I would let people know about the different activities.  I heard that there is a BBQ on the beach at the Suites that I believe is on Thursday.  I just wanted to check.

Happy planning all!

Another lady recommended Roan Robinson, his work looks brilliant and very reasonably priced! I'm still trying to find availability at the moment. I still have lots to do but looks like I'll be finalising most things when over there as I'm sure we'll get much more time with the co-ordinators. Have you been given your wedding time for the day yet? I'll be sure to look out for you :)

Yes, his work looks awesome and he's gotten great reviews!  Did you try to email him about availability?  He's usually pretty fast with his responses.  I haven't been given my wedding time yet, but just from reading through this thread, it looks like it's either 4:30 or 5?  Are you doing a private dinner and reception?  I'll def look out for you too :)

Hi Court,

I at first thought it was a bonfire as well but it is a beach party that they throw on the beach at the Beach Resort on Thurs and on the beach at the Suites on Saturday. Hope that helps a bit!

So they don't have a bonfire at the Saturday beach party?does anyone actually know what is involved in the beach party? I was going to do a private bonfire beach party as a welcome party but changed my mind when I heard the next night the hotel had a beach party anyone. But if its not a bonfire then maybe I will still do one only own.

• Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
