So what are the horror stories about Guy Godfrey? I searched this site and the only thing I found out about him is that he calls you all of the time. You also have to send $ via Western Union. Does anyone have anything else to add? I was planning on using him but I would like to know if there were other issues with him. Please, please, please let me know. Thanks!

I honestly have heard so many horror stories about Godfrey Guy...in addition to my own. I booked him at first but then heard horror stories and tried to back out. He then promised me for months he would return my $250 deposit but after I begged a million times, he finally said he was never giving it to me. I've also heard he has screwed up on certain flowers that were requested and what not. He can be very rude and condescending as well. He has screamed at me plenty of times on the phone and you can barely understand his English.

I read under my contract for the Rose Hall Beach that they will actually not let you use an outside flower vendor anyways. I was also looking at Guy but glad someone spoke up about the bad experiences!!! I think my game plan is to use Tai Flora and just really only get as much as I trully think is necessary. I even thought about bringing some things from home for decorations on tables? I had someone say that they would contact me from Tai Flora with pricing but haven't heard anything yet. The brochure was awesome just wish they would had prices next to them :-) my wedding is still quite a ways away so we do have time, but it would be nice to know for our budget!

Hey Ladies! My wedding was on May 30th.  I will tell you...it was soo frustrating not getting answers back right away but as all the other brides said once you get there, they have everything in order.  Honestly, once I embraced the culture and decided to just go with the flow, I was able to relax and just enjoy the day.  Not everything went as planned (they never do) but our wedding day nonetheless was amazing.

The day of arrival we did a welcome gathering and had a fire dancer (meh). IMO (and my husbands)- we should have saved the money.  It was different and we have some really cool pics but he did the same things over and over again for 20 minutes and they did not stop other people from joining us.  My thought is...if we have to pay for it for our group then it should only be for our group. But oh well...folks thought it was nice.

The day before the wedding, I coordinated with Nicole to have a rehearsal at 6pm before rehearsal dinner at 6:30. There was a wedding that day so it was all set up so we got to see what it would actually look like.

THE WEDDING DAY!!

I decided to wear a veil (Yikes!) that thing was whipping allllll over the place from the moment I stepped outside but Nicole wrapped it around my around and we made the best of it.

The reception dinner was at Calabash.  We did not privatize however like others have said you don't really notice that other people are there.  The only time I noticed is when I was looking through the pictures and I saw someone sneaking a peek at us cutting the cake- of course right where the privacy wall ends.

Sky Lanterns- after dinner we went out on the beach and lit sky lanterns.  I will say it was really windy and a lot of them caught on fire...it was scary but people still enjoyed them.  I will say if you choose to do this please make sure that they have enough lighters.  Tiffany only had two so we had to take turns lighting them which kind of took away from the moment as we couldn't let them all go together.

MANGO WALK- what a blast!  We had a choreographed dance for our first dance so it was the perfect venue.

Words cannot express what an absolutely magical moment it was...we are coming up on a month and people are still talking about it.

Best wishes to all and happy planning!!

Great pics and great tips! I was thinking of having a bonfire after the wedding dinner since we also planned to have our dinner (not private) at Casablah and no reception. I was not planning on having music at the bonfire because there may be speeches and I also wanted the fire dancer for entertainment. I'm surprised that the hotel doesn't do anything to help make your bonfire private! I don't want strangers hanging out at my "wedding reception/bonfire"!!!  I think I will tell Nicole I will only order a bonfire if they put in an effort to keep the riffraff out. Good to know about the fire dancer too! Hmmmm.... decisions, decisions!  The coreographed dance looks like it was great fun. I bet it was a good bonding experience for the wedding party. I'm glad you had your perfect day. You looked beautiful!

Gee, that is kinda scary. I've been trying to search for reviews on him but have not been able to find any horror stories other than yours. I probably should have done the tutorial about special features on this site rather than just jumping in "without getting my feet wet first". Thanks so much for the info!

To any past brides that had a steel drum band for your ceremony, what songs did you play as your mom, bridesmaids, and you processed down the aisle?  Nicole said that I should email her the songs that I am thinking about and she will check to see if the band can play them, but I am thinking that with 3 weeks to go, you might give me quicker ideas.

Thanks in advance!!!
