Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Our group is about the same size as yours. We decided with the casual feel of our wedding and the tiny group that formal invites weren't necessary so we made a really nice evite that we set to our wedding song with lots of pictures of us and Jamaica. Everyone loved it, it was free, you don't have to mail them and you can pack so much more info into them.

We have 25 guests going.  I'm hesitant to provide wedding information since it sounds like the WC seem to be changing info.  Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.  I've booked my ceremony for 4:30pm and have requested the restaurant.  I am providing OOT bags and welcome letters at the resort, so maybe I don't need to mail out anything beforehand.  What did other brides do?

Clearly I was half asleep when I wrote this.  Yes I have 44 DAYS left to go.

To clarify I did send out formal invitations back in the summer.   We have 25 guests booked and confirmed, but I'm wondering now if I'm suppose to mail out other information to my guests before we leave? Did any brides mail out wedding info after invitations?  Thanks!

I too would love to know this information!

It would be great to hear from past brides how long everyone was standing around before and after the ceremony.

Hi girls, I'm baaaaack :)  I'll do my best to answer all questions, so ask away.  Our ceremony was at the Beach resort, on the terrace, and the reception was semi-private at the Steakhouse, followed by private rental of the Disco.  At the end of our stay we moved over to the Grand for a few days, which was amazing!  We also had a bonfire w/ appetizers for our welcome party.  We used Tai Flora for flowers/ centerpieces (cost under $500 for my bouquet, corsages, bouts, 4 centerpieces, no bridesmaids bouquets), Rashel for makeup/hair, and Marcia Roberts for photography. So I can answer any questions relating to those things.

I don't have pro pics from Marcia yet, but here are a few teasers from our guests.

Oops, forgot to add above, our flower package included the arch centerpiece.

And here's an idea of the semi-private dinner at the Steakhouse. There was 31 of us, we had a U-shaped table set up, centerpieces from Tai Flora.

And this is our first dance at the disco.

OMG! Starrysim everything looked amazing!!!!

Ok: you said we can ask questions, so here I go! :-)

I am wanting a semi-private reception at the Steakhouse as well. What did you think of it? How was the service? Did people seem to like it? Its outside, right? Was it really hot?

I am also wanting to rent out the disco for the dance part. What did you think of it? Your 1st dance looked so beautiful! How was your DJ?

What did you think of the flowers and everything you got from Tai Flora?

Hope you had an amazing time and look forward to more pictures and maybe even a review.....? :-)

Congratulations and best wishes!

Yes, I will post a review and a planning thread, but I need a few days to get back into the swing of things at home.

Steakhouse reception was good.  There were barely any other people, especially because we were there right at the beginning of dinner time, people arrived later.  Honestly, I didn't even notice anyone else.  The only thing is, you can't do speeches or dancing or anything.  But it's so much more cost-effective to rent the disco instead ($800 restaurant, plus open bar and DJ, versus $350 disco, which includes open bar and DJ).  Service was wonderful, throughout the resort in general.  Silvia also moved the arch centerpiece behind our table at dinner, and our arrangement from the signing table became the head table centerpiece.  You don't need a lot of decorations IMO.  All we had were the 4 orchid cylinder centerpieces, which everyone loved.  It wasn't too hot, though my legs got hot under my dress.  But for normal people NOT wearing 8 layers of polyester, it was fine.  Not sure about the weather in April.

I really liked that we rented out the disco.  Silvia actually had the little golf carts take us right from the Steakhouse to the disco, so it was quick and we didn't loose people in the migration :)  We didn't do any decorating or anything at the disco, it's really not needed.  The DJ was allright.  I took my iPod touch with the songs for the first dance and father dance,  I even told him when to fade out the song, and everything was seamless.  I also gave him a few songs to play later on (foreign language).  He pretty much played the kind of stuff we asked, and he also did our intros for the dances and speeches.  Then we danced and kept going when the club opened to the public.  I liked that we didn't have to stop at 10:30 and then move over, as we would've had to do if we had a restaurant reception.

The flowers were all very nice, except my bouquet.  Some of the flowers looked wilted for some reason, the lilies weren't open enough (barely showed the colour), and flowers kept falling out.  Otherwise, all the other flowers and centerpieces were perfect.

hope this helps :)

Hey ladies, does anyone know what they do differently with a "blessing" versus an actual marriage? I want it to feel as much like our actual wedding as possible (even though it isn't) and I was wondering if there were things they legally needed to say differently. Thanks!!

Starrysim: Congrats!!!! I noticed a while ago that I missed your send-off and didn't get to send any "well wishes"! :) Glad it went great for you! Can't wait to see more pics! :D

I leave in 6 days and reality has not set in yet!! Haha. I get the feeling it will take me until I'm sitting on the beach for it to hit. ;)
