Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

Hi Paula:

I am getting married a the rosehall beach next week.  For my welcome bags I'm doing everything local (except for the bags) to avoid carrying too many items down.  In my welcome bags,  I will be including:

1.  8oz bag of blue mountain coffee

2.  2 bottles of water

3. Pens with Jamaican logo

4. Local postcards for guests to write messages back home ( 2/ bag)

5.  Tamrind balls (Jamaican candy)

I have family in Jamaica who are helping me get these items, but there are several souvenir shops in Montego Bay where you can pick stuff up.

I've been reading over the forum and I think there is a lot of great advice and I'm hoping that someone can help me with a few things. Has anyone had the Bonfire Party on the beach? If so, how long did it last and how was it?

I also want to know what people have done for gift bags for their guests. Did you bring the items with you or did you buy the items in Jamaica? I know that there is a gift shop at the hotel, but i'm worried about how expensive it will be. Well I'm open to any advice or stories. You can email me at [email protected]

For any brides getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach, Tameica (wedding co-ordinator) is no longer with the resort.  I received an email from the public relations manager yesterday informing me of Tameica's departure.  Not sure who is taking over the wedding planning department, but have asked.  Maria

Hi Everyone:

I am having my reception at Uncle Tony's steakhouse but am a bit concerned we only get the restaurant from 7pm to 10pm.  Despite my persistent attempts to get the restaurant earlier I have been told no. Did any former brides have any problems with this short time frame and were you able to negotiate an earlier start time when you arrived at the hotel.

Hi Islandgirl. My wedding isn't until Dec 2011 so I haven't started working on all the details yet. I spoke to the WC and she said she might be able to help me locate them. If not I'm going to have Rashel (my make up artist) or Brian (my photographer) help me find them. If no one can help I"m going to see if I can check them in my luggage, of course I will have to call Air Jamaica to see if I'm able to bring this item on the plane.

No, I am not doing the firedancer.  I have some musicians in my family so I am hoping for more of a, sit around the fire with the guitars idea. Also, I am pretty sure they have fire dancers on the night of the beach party.  My guests will have already seen the fire dancers so I don't see the point in paying for them to see this again.  It does not cost anything to book your guests in for a rehearsal dinner so I was planning to go that way and have it at Aunt Ruby's which is overlooking the beach.  This way the transition would flow better. The appetizer idea sounds good too though!

Are you planning on getting teh fire dancer or band at the bonfire? We are thinking of doing the bonfire instead of having a rehearsal dinner and we would serve enough appetizers to fill them up.

The terrace was my first choice too because of the privacy.  The ceremony would be more intimate without onlookers I think.  However, I ended up booking a private location through Tropical Weddings Jamaica.

Congrats, and can't wait to see pics!  Just wondering - did they upgrade you to the Grand for free, or did you pay extra?  We're planning to do the same thing, but we'll be booking 2 weeks at the Suites.  After the wedding, we will probably pay extra to go to the Grand if they don't upgrade us for free.

We're planing to do the ceremony on the balcony - it's one of the things that really stood out to be when I started looking at this resort.  Here are some pics I found, though I'm not sure which are from the Beach vs. the Suites.

Google search will give you a quick result.

Maria: Thanks for the Tamarind balls idea. I've been trying to come up with something else that was Jamaican.

Paula: I plan on buying the following items at the Supermarket when I get there:

  • Rum Cream
  • Jerk Sauce/seasoning
  • Blue Mountain Coffee (depends on the price)
  • Tamarind balls
  • Possibly individual rum cakes

The rest of my items will be brought with me from home.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding and please post a review when you get back!

This is the first that I've heard she's gone. Do you think that the new person will be contacting us to let us know? That worries me. I hope they get someone good to replace her.

Congrats Jules!!! I can't wait to read your review! Enjoy your honeymoon!

Oh, would  you do me a HUGE favor and take pictures of the inside of Port Maria at the Grand? That's where we have to have our reception since we're having more than 30 people!!

We just got married at the Suites on april 23rd and now transfered over to the Grand for our honeymoon (been here for a few days now and come back home sunday). Just letting everyone know that everything went smoothly and not a single hicup or anything unexpected. I will post a review as soon as I get home. I strongly advise everyone to make sure everything is communicated to Nicole PRIOR to your arrival - if so, you will have no worries mon!!!

Janielle is the newest WC at the Grand.

I sent her an email on 4/20 asking her two pages of questions and HAVE YET TO recieve a response. Not even a "thank you for you email...or I'll et back to you as soon as I can!" NOTHING...very frustrating. I mean if they only have one wedding a day...what's the deal? Unless, she has other job requirements besides WC. I'm also not to happy that this is my THIRD coordinator since I booked last MAY!
