I have debating on sending out official invitations. We have already sent out STD's and are planning on sending out a newsletter or something to those coming. We are having an AHR that we will be sending out invitations for.

What are your thoughts on not sending out official wedding invitations?

I just sent out std's, not official invitations. I am going to do nice invitations for our AHR. Since we are inviting a lot of people to our AHR and only about 30 are coming to our wedding, I'm considering the AHR like a second wedding.

As long as your std included all of the necessary information, I don't think you need to send out official invitations.

We did something similar with ours. For the wedding in Jamaica, we only sent the information to close family and friends via email. We didn't send invitations to everyone in the mail because we knew that most people wouldn't make the trip since we're having an AHR when we return. We will send out AHR invites to everyone on our list, which may spark a few last minute travellers... but that's highly doubtful.

I am sending out official invitations in order to get a count of how many attending plan to go on the catamaran cruise we're booking and I also need to ask people for their dinner choice to give to the hotel in advance. I am asking for an RSVP 6 months out too which will help me finalize my budget numbers for OOT bags and such.

If you don't need to get this information, then I think you're probably good with a STD and a website.

Sorry, wish I could help. I'm not having an AHR as over 100+ guest have voiced that they will be attending our destination wedding in HHI. I've set up a website (included on the STD magnet) that contains all the information that they will need for travel, accommodations, groceries, outings, activities and such.

Maybe you can set up a website? I used one from ewedding.com. Easy templates. I just fill in the information, add photos and links and presto!

We have decided to just do invitations for the AHR. I sent out STDs already and about a month and a half before we leave for Jamaica, I am going to send out a news letter that includes a packing list and information for the resort. I was thinking about sending invites for both the Jamaica wedding and the AHR but it was going to cost too much. And people who are going to JAmaica have basically already booked their trips, so I did not see the need to send them an invite.

I set official invites even though all of our guests booked after they got the std. I did it more as a keepsake and a reminder for anyone that hadnt booked to book (which no one else did). Plus i really wanted the boarding pass invitations. Honestly, i dont think it was necessary for me to the official invites and if your already doing ahr invites maybe you could save your self some money and skip them. I think you should do whatever you want.
