Need some help with reception

Recommended Posts

I am having my wedding in Vegas on Sept 5, 2009 and I have a question about when to book the reception place. I can't really book it until I know how many people are going to be there. Should I send my invites out in January and ask for them to be back by the beginning of march or is that not enough time? Do they need to be back before then?

Sorry if this question has been asked before. I looked at the threads in here and didn't find anything on it. If there is, can you please let me know!

Thanks

I would suggest you determine thebest and worst scenario. Always, always book your reception in advance as space generally goes fast. If you are having a small or large wedding will determine which room size you book. TReat invites as you would a regular/traditional wedding, giving guests enough time to consider attending, travel plans, etc. Have you sent out STD invites yet??

Well our guest list is around 100 people but there are a bunch of people on there that we know won't come so that probably brings it down to about 80 people. Should I book a place for that many people? I really can't see that many people travelling for our wedding. I am going down to Las Vegas next week and have been talking to one place about booking a reception. I will ask them what they think. I just don't want to book a big place and then not have that many people. It would mean I would lose out on my deposit and then have to find another place to have the dinner/reception once I know how many people are going.

I haven't sent out STD's because all our family knows when the wedding is and we have told the majority of our friends that we are inviting. Just thought it would save some money by not sending them out.

When you are in Vegas next week tell the consultants at the venue your guestlist situation, that you'll have a maximum of 100 but a more realistic number of 80 give-or-take. If the venue has a good group consultant they'll have plenty of ideas with how to deal with fluctuating numbers. As the PP mentioned, it is always best to reserve your room as far in advance as possible, Vegas is such a popular place for weddings and conventions alike!

Good luck!!
