10 Budgeting Tips for the Frugal Minded :)

Recommended Posts

We are being very budget friendly as well and so far I have been able to make everything I want for a lot less than buying.

Save the Date Magnets & Info - I made our magnets (50) for $10! Hobby Lobby has sheets of magnet that you run through your printer & no one can tell they weren't professionally done! I just used a Microsoft Word template for business cards, a pretty beach landscape clipart, and added our info. I made a brochure (again from template) for all the wedding, travel & general island info for about $20. I sent it along with the magnet so people could start making travel arrangements.

Invitations - I am in the process of making invitations that I saw at rexcraft.com for $175 per 100. It is going to cost me $40. I am just using Word again to design it & bought nice paper, ribbon & envelopes from Hobby Lobby.

Program Fans - The program fans that would have been $135 per 100 & it has cost me $15 for all the supplies - paper, ribbon, craft sticks. To make the corners round I am using a scrapbook tool that rounds off the edges.

Bridesmaid dresses - since we are getting married on the beach I wanted something that the girls could wear again, but were still nice instead of the traditional formal dress. Most stores are going into sale mode to get rid of their summer stuff. We found $100 flowy beach dresses for $40 & my mom is making the flower girl dress as well as neckties for the groomsman.

There are so many ways to save money. It just takes some time to find what you want & then figure out how to DIY. It also helps to round up the bridesmaids, offer some mojito's, and start an assembly line!

i am planning to design my own save the date magnets. How did you print the magnets? Do you need a specific printer to do it? Anyone know? Thanks!

Our budget has been pretty slim, so I did tons of research (mostly on BDW). Since we were having everyone come to Mexico for our wedding we wanted to pay for our wedding party attire. I got my bridesmaids' dresses at Charlotte Russe for $40 each since they were flowy summer-ey type dresses. They are casual enough for my beach wedding and they can definitely wear them again. I also ordered my dress online at NetBride.com and it came in perfect condition and I saved over $300! Just with the wedding attire we have already saved $600. There's tons of stuff you can get cheaper online then in the stores.

Plus, I'm all about the DIY stuff. I'm doing my own std cards, invites, website and spanish guides for the OOT bags. It's more personable and if you give yourself plenty of time you can create lots of stuff!
