Well from what I hear all of Aruba is windy, not just the Westin. I have talked to a few people and they said the Westin is beautiful (as is all of Aruba) and that is where I booked my wedding in October 2010. I don't know about your planner, but I would choose where you want to have you wedding. My choice came down to recommendations from my TA (my family has been working with her for 10yrs now), I also took into consideration the Apple Vacation recommendations (they award certain resorts with a Golden Apple; I needed some way to narrow my choice down!), price, availability of my date (I had a specific date in mind), and the wedding packages/options. My FI and I felt the Westin was the best choice.

I need my Aruba brides!

I am wondering if you can tell me what time your ceremony is/was? The Westin is telling me 5:30pm and it will run to 6pm, but sunset is at 6:18pm (on my wedding date) and from what I found out it gets dark in 20 minutes, if not sooner. I really want to have an hour at least in light/sunset for pictures. Maybe I am being too obsessive, but I am doing my invitations and I need to have a time down.

Thanks so much!

Heather

OK Aruba Girls, new question...

So we want to take our guests for a snorkel cruise one day. We just got back from a site visit and we went on the Jolly Pirates trip. Let me just say... lots of fun! However, its definitely a booze cruise/party boat. We are worried that it might not suit some of our more "mature" guests. We saw the Black Pearl off shore and know there are other boats in the area. Does anyone have recommendations for a fun but not "too" fun snorkel trip?

Thanks!

If you are looking for a laid back, nice sailing/snorkel cruise, definitely look into the tranquilo (sp?). I went on it with a group of friends a few years ago and we had a great time. It's a real sailboat, not like the jolly pirate, and it's calm and relaxing. You sail for 2-3hrs to the awesome snorkeling area and snorkel for awhile, then they take you to a spot for deep sea snorkeling, which is awesome, and then you have lunch on the boat and sail back. The whole trip is about 6hrs long, so plan a whole day for it. But it was a great experience. Just remember your sunscreen, b/c your on open water for 6hrs. There is a shaded area on the boat though if you wanna get out of the sun.

Hi there all of you Aruba Brides,

After months of thinking I would do my wedding in Punta Cana, we have changed our minds and are now going to Aruba!!!! Which is what we wanted in the first place, but were initially talked out of it b/c of the money. We have been to Aruba three times before so if you have any island questions just ask. We are actually probably going to have the wedding somewhere on the beach, dinner at a restaurant, and we are going to rent a villa and have our reception there. It'll be private and we can swim afterwards!!!! We thought it was a great cost saving option, since we'll just get a few cases of Amstel Bright (the best beer in the world....definitely try it when you're down there), some bottles of liquor and snacks. We're just looking for the perfect spot now to do the ceremony. We're leaning towards the area by the lighthouse, it's beautiful over there and the pics would look great with the lighthouse in the background. But, we're still debating.

Ask me any questions if you have them. I'm so glad i found this forum. Good luck to you all.

I've also heard great things about Mi Dushi sunset cruise. If you have a big enough group you can get a private charter.

My FI and I also wanted to have our wedding in DR. We wanted to do something different and that's why we selected Aruba. Both of us have never been to the island, neither have most of our guests!!

This forum has been great and has helped a lot with my planning.

When are you getting married?
