How fast can a DW be planned?

Recommended Posts

You're Canadian? The easiest by far is CUBA, as they have the least restrictions, they only require that you send them your info (passport #) a few weeks beforehand. No blood test, no translations, and they can provide the witnesses. It is super easy, provided neither of you have been divorces.

I am going to a Melia Resort, they have a coordinator in Canada that could probably see you married for the new yaer , or January, she responds to emails and phonecalls within a few hours. PM me for her contact info.

Best of luck!

It's not a set waiting period for the entire country. It seems to vary by resort, and I was told that each resort has their own guidelines for how long they want you to be there before they will marry you, etc. My resort's policy is three or four working days (can't remember exact number). Just wanted to point that out.

If you plan to elope then I think you shoud give a shot to Bahamas if Cuba is out of the possibilties... some guys have "eloping" packages, lol ! These for instance :

Intimate Affair Wedding Package at Old Bahama Bay by Ginn sur Mer ? Luxury Villa Rentals in the Bahamas

The "intimate affair" is an eloping package, you can just show up... so really no planning necessary you could even get married next week-end if you wanted to...

I saw them when doing my first research on the DW... we were planning to elope at the time...

My resort EDSS was 3 business days you need to be in the country prior to the wedding.. although we arrive on Sat.. Monday (feb 2, 2009) is a Mexican holiday.. wait 3 days... the earliest we could get married was Friday Feb 6th. Our guests leave the next morning...

FI and I keep "mentioning" that we should have gone ahead with the DW and that it's too late to do it now that we've sunk our money into the new plans.

BUT at lunch today all my co-workers kept talking about their upcoming warm holidays down south this winter and now I'm super envious and want to go too.

So my question to you all is, if I booked a last minute deal to get out of here for a DW, how long would take to book everything for a civil ceremony at a resort? Has anyone here done this last minute with less than 2 months of planning?
My BFF got married last April in the DR and she only started planning 2 months before! She didn't even have a dress or anything. She did it all in less than two months so yes it's doable for sure... Go for it!! Make sure to let us all know what you decide.

I think your plan is great and it seems totally doable. If you see a great deal, just get on it, and then see if the planner there can set it up. If it's just the two of you and you are flexible in terms of weddings times I see no reason why you can't make it happen!!
