Anyone not love their dress til the wedding day???

Recommended Posts

I liked my dress on the hanger but trying to put it on for the first time was ridiculous (about 10 sizes too small..*lol*). My mom loved it and was jumping around and I liked it too so I ordered it. The first fitting I absolutely hated it with a passion. I did my second fitting yesterday and am much much happier with it ..I had them take it in even more though before I take it home.

If there is something you don't like then try and have them fix it.

I personally think your dress is absolutely gorgeous and looks great on you.

Best of luck.

I hear ya ! When I ordered my dress I was so excited about it ! Since then, I've seen so any pics of so many amazing dresses, some in magazines, some on this forum... I feel like I went too quick (specially now that my dress came in 2 months early, I'm thinking I would have had more time to try some others). Also, although I loved this dress, and all my friends loved it too, my mother did not... I guess it's not helping wink.gif

So, I've not gone to try it one again. I'm nervous and worried I would not like it or thinking I should have tried on some more... However, I did try some bridesmaids dresses last week, and I must say that not one of them looked really good on me... whereas they looked good on others or the models... I also remember I did try a whole lot of dresses, in a lot of different style... so I should feel confident about my dress.

We'll see how I fell about it in a couple weeks... Right now I'm shopping for a TTD dress, it's distracting me... (although I do want to do my TTD in my real dress... I don't know I guess it trumps the anxiety). wink.gif

I feel the same. I went for my first fitting last Friday and I wasn't feeling it, I felt it was so plain (even though that was what I loved about it when I first tried it on) - but I agree with everyone, once everything is put together you will love it!

I checked the link again and you look stunning in it, don't worry you will feel amazing on your day!!

I always felt like I should LOVE my dress and know it's the ONE because everyone told me so. But honestly, I'm not that type of person to get all pumped up over a dress, so I don't think it's a one size fits all kind of emotion. I thought my dress was beautiful on the model- I ordered it from a mag in the bridal shop. Once I had it on, I felt fat and unsure of my decision. I road it out because I had no options. I thought the dress was pretty, but I didn't feel pretty IN it, if that makes sense.

Anyways, day of wedding- it's not about the dress. It's about everything. Your hair, your makeup, your look- the dress is just part of it. The emotions of the day supersede everything. Your dress will only be a glimmer in the big picture.

Trust me- if you like your dress, you will LOVE it on the day of. I think you could put a bride in love in a paper sack and her beauty and confidence would overshadow the dress. No worries- you will be beautiful and most importantly you will FEEL beautiful.

I agree with everyone else and think you are completely normal. If you're not I'm in big trouble! lol I feel the same as you. I went for my 1st fitting last week and I really like my dress, its a pretty dress, its perfect for a beach wedding. But, I am not in love with it. I had no desire to jump around happily when I had it on and I don't want to cry tears of joy or shout out to everyone how in love with it I am.

I agree with Rachel and think that there is so much pressure from others and the media to fall in love with your dress. The whole you know its the one when everyone cries etc. I don't think that's true for everyone. As long as you are in love with your FI and are so excited to marry him I think you'll feel excited about the dress (and everything else) on that day!

Same here! When I got my dress the woman made me try it on and I did it to humor her. Then once I was in it, I felt like it flattered me, but it wasnt quite as big on the bottom as I wanted. Idid want a line, but maybe pickups or something. I got convinced because I was afraid pickups wouldnt pack well. Plus it has a little bit of beading which I initially didnt want but they told me would catch the sun. And the organza or whatever the see thru fabric is made the dress lie down nicely, so I fell for that too.

I was really nervous I wouldnt like it once I saw it on me in the correct sizw, and I did still like it. But, like you and Rachel, I dont think I can get too hopped up over a dress.

So I do like it, but am worried that I wont adore it at the wedding. Plus I am not having my hair and makeup done for me, so I want to try to do something special with it myself. But I am not spending too much time worrying because honestly, I think all the little variations that we think about, dont make much difference to anyone else but us. I honestly cant picture more than the basic shape of any wedding I have ever been to. Like I can remember strapless A line, but nothing more, ever. Well, maybe thats just me...

I am so glad you posted this thread because I am feeling the same way. I LOVED my dress when I first put it on, but now after seeing so many beautiful dresses it makes me want to go shopping. I think that once I have the "complete" look on like yall said it will make me feel better. Plus I don't want to spend the extra money on a new dress!

Really once the day comes it is funny how much you put into all the detail of your dress when you could wear a white trash bag and look amazing. It is the glow and the makeup and the hair and the whole ambiance of it all that makes you look amazing :)

I haven't started trying dresses on yetsad.gif I am surprised that I am not excited about finding the perfect dress. I have looked at every possible magazine but nothing jumps out at me. I know I will feel like you when I do buy one.Funny thing is I already picked the bridesmaid dresses and love them!

This thread motivated me to get my hair and makeup done the day of the wedding. I started to think if left to do my own hair etc, I would just look like regular me in a dress, not a "bride". I was picturing how I felt at the fitting, like oh this would be pretty if I didnt have my hair down and if I had makeup etc. And then I was like wait, I am not doing anything too special on that day either!!!

I think that will help it all come together for me! Thanks for the inspiration ladies!
