Anyone not love their dress til the wedding day???

Recommended Posts

i went for another fitting today and i have to say - i'm not all jumping around excited about my dress. i think its beautiful and i think i look good in it (link to thread with pics below)...i'm just not getting that feeling. so i'm wondering if i'm weird or if some people just don't get that feeling until they put their dress on on their wedding day.

i'd love to hear that i'm pretty normal, but will understand if you tell me i'm not!

I loved my dress from the instant that I saw it on the hanger, so I can't say I know what you are feeling. But I do know that you loved your dress and when it was ordered in the wrong color, you weren't sure what to do. So I don't really find it surprising that you aren't feeling all hopped up with love. I just checked out your pics again and you look absolutely stunning in it, so I think that once your wedding day comes, and your hair and makeup and everything is all done, you will be so happy with the overall look! I really do beleive that. I am sorry that you aren't ecstatic though.

Im kinda in the same boat. I loved my dress when I ordered it. My first fitting was a month ago and I wasnt jumping for joy in it. Same thing, its pretty and I look good in it, but now I wish I had tried on some more dresses! Im not about to go out and buy a whole other dress though.

I think you are very normal.. I have been thinking about my dress- (still haven't tried it on since the first time) and wondering if I still will love it. I think it was beautiful and flattering but I think "that feeling" is an expectation that we all have. Well at least i had. Carly is right- you look great and with hair, amkeup and the whole look I think you will be beaming from the inside out. I have to keep reminding myself that the day I wear the dress i will be marrying my best friend and will hopefully feel my best.

I am not sure that I was ever jumping around for joy about the dress though. :)

I'm with you. I love my dress...but I'm jumping! And I didn't get that feeling. I have tried it on a couple times since the first time but it didn't fit properly like the first time (I tried it on a multiple locations before I bought it!). I have my first fitting on Saturday and I'm sure I won't be all giddy then either. But I just know that come my wedding day I will be the happiest giddiest (is that a word?!) girl in the Caribbean!!!

I loved my dress when I first got it. I went to have my first fitting, and still thought it was ok. My final fitting, I felt fat and frumpy and almost started shopping for a new dress. I decided to just suck it up and wear it. The day of my wedding I fell in love with my dress all over again. I think it was having the whole package together. The shoes and hair and makeup and the flowers. It was perfect again.

I was so rushed to find a dress for the few days I could shop in Dallas. When I tried it on, I fell in love with it and knew it was the one. Months have gone by, and I haven't seen it since I ordered it. It's very simple with no beads, crystals, or embellishments of any kind. Meanwhile, I look at other brides dresses that are so beautiful and I'm really second guessing my decision now. I have my first fitting in 9 days and I really hope that when I put it on, then I'll get that feeling again. You're definitely not alone on this one at all!!!

hey. its totally normal to feel unsure about your dress. all the hype about it being "the one" and "that" feeling we're supposed to get when we put it on makes it hard for us to be certain its the right one and makes us question if we love it, know what im trying to say? the day of your wedding will def add the excitement, once your hair and makeup are done, your girls are dressed, everything will tie in, trust me. i honestly think your dress is gorgeous & that you're being your worst critic, like most women normally do- we over analyze everything.

however if you are 100% stone serious absolutely positive you dont like it and are not happy, well thats a diff story. that is something you'll have to try to determine and go from there. many girls get 2nd or 3rd dresses. you did have a few issues at first so maybe that's part of the reason you aren't sure. i love your dress though!

I got a very simple dress. I wasn't jumping for joy about it but I liked it. The day of the wedding when it all came together it looked great. My husband LOVED it. Really once the day comes it is funny how much you put into all the detail of your dress when you could wear a white trash bag and look amazing. It is the glow and the makeup and the hair and the whole ambiance of it all that makes you look amazing :)

So, I think it has a little to do with the fact that all of the bridal mags have these beautiful dresses that we still see after we pick our dress. After I ordered mine I had many second thoughts bc i felt like I may have gotten talked into it. I saw all of these amazing dresses in the bridal mags and was regretting my choice. After I got it in the mail I fell in love with it again. I am doing my first fitting on Friday- so we'll see... but I can see how you wouldn't be excited at that point... hair in a pony, less made up, etc. But when the day comes I think you will love the whole package too! Hope that helps.

PS... I LOVE your dress:-)
